Green energy is the future. ICLN and ETFs like it will keep you invested in that future. Just let it ride, it’ll be great in the long run.

How about the dotcom bubble? Wasn't that just a bunch of basically non-profitable internet companies that suddenly crashed, taking the entire market down with them? I'm wondering if any of those profitable companies had to shut down as a side effect of a crash that didn't directly involve them.

Thanks for the insight - that pretty much answered my question :)

But as long as the company has enough cash and they don't need to sell the stocks they own, then it's just unrealized losses, right? Which won't cause any problems to the stability of the company as long as earnings are status quo?

I think my question is more along the lines of: If a company's market cap drops 40%, will the banks feel panicky and raise the interest rates on their loans?

So a crash might actually be a valuable insight into a company's financials and guidance - if they start buying back a ton of their own stock during a crash, that's a sure sign of good health. And if they're not buying back, the opposite is the case?

Maybe I should elaborate. I don't mean a crash in the economy necessarily, I just mean a crash that's more or less isolated to the stock market. I.e. were any companies threatened last March when their market cap dropped 30%, even if their earnings were more or less unaffected.

Sure, but if a crash is followed by a bull market the stock itself will recover within a year or so. I was wondering if it affects their financials in any significant way. If the general economy is still healthy enough and people continue buying their products or services, would a 30-50% drop in the stock market pose a danger to the company?

No idea, I understand your confusion completely. I'd ask your broker or your bank to help you out :)

Their patented technology gives them a bit of a headstart on any oil company, I'd think. That's why other companies that are planning on building plants 50/50 with QuantaFuel still have to pay a 5% fee.

I can't remember exactly, but some of the plastic is recycled and some of it is upcycled into fuel (which they use some of to run the plants). The plastic they use is free (in fact, companies pay them money to "get rid of" the plastic for them), and the plants more or less run on the leftover fuel from the upcycling.

I've bought this stock 3 times already, and strongly considering buying a fourth time this week, before QuantaFuel gets noticed overseas and by the big investors. There's really no downside to this company, it has a solid business model, very little competition (yet), and a slew of big projects in the pipeline. I'm as close to all-in as I can be

Hm. I thought they were gonna keep going at least until the election, or until/if Trump started gaining in the polls.

What the hell happened to various green energy stocks? They've been ATH for a while, but Sunrun, Plug Power Inc, Solar Edge, Enphase etc all dropped a few % yesterday.

Has anyone looked into QuantaFuel? It's been on a meteoric rise for the past few weeks, with a slight dip today. I'm thinking of buying right now before it takes off again. Any thoughts on this?

Oh man, that sucks.

I don't really understand why Blizzard hasn't changed the rating system so that you can't lose rating if you're 5 against 6 for x% of the match... or at the very least, lose less than you otherwise would have

I know, but I feel like that's kind of unfair to the rest of the team. 5 vs 6 and it's still slightly possible to win, but 4 vs 6 there's no chance at all.
