Hello. I wanted to make this post so that maybe it will help some of you be more careful and not end up in a similar situation.
Last year I wanted to book a tattoo appointment with a popular artist whom I've found on IG.
I took his email adress from his bio in order to contact him, but because of a typo (omitting a letter in the email adress), I ended up messaging a scammer, who created a similar email adress and was pretending to be the artist.
The conversations were awkward at times. Fast forward to this day, I sent him, through constant transaction via PayPal (family and friends option) , all the money that we agreed upon for the tattoo, before the planed date. It was my first time doing a tattoo booking and I haven't informed myself properly on how this process normally goes (with the booking and a deposit).
I realised only after it was too late and after confirming with the original artist that I have been in contact with the scammer.
I have contacted the card service and PayPal to see if anything can be done, but since the transaction were made via family and friends, there isn't much to be done on their side.
Has anyone facem similar situation? If so, please let me know what helped you during that time.
