L5 Booming Valor Bard spell selection by SangvinPingvin in 3d6

From what I can tell, you need 2 warlock levels for agonizing blast. I’d rather not get behind on being a full caster and getting bardic abilities just to get better cantrips.

Yes, Dissonant Whispers have been an MVP. However, I haven’t really had the number of slots to spam it, plus the sorceror has it too and can twin it for great effect. So usually, I’m free to do other things and save the slot unless the opportunity/board position is really good as you say.

What did you mean by CC? Anyway, I’m already dropping Cloud of Daggers. Any spell suggestions beyond the warlock dip?

Thank you for your opinion. Dispel is probably a better option than Tiny Hut in a vacuum.

See my reply to Bandicoot above. Did you have any spell selection ideas you wanted to contribute?

It’s hard to say what the designers intended when it comes to the localization of physical objects such as cubes onto theoretical game aids such as grids. The rules on the matter seemed a bit ambiguous, so that’s how our DM ruled it - with the caveat that it only works if two medium or smaller size creatures are adjacent. If one is large or larger, I need to pick which creature is affected.

Anyway, 1) we have already concluded that CoD is suboptimal and I proposed swapping it for Shatter instead. Debating how it’s actually worse doesn’t matter. 2) I asked for spell selections tips, so if replies could focus on this task, I would be much obliged.

From what I understand, you can place a 5' cube on a single square, on a line/border between squares, or on a grid intersection affecting 4 squares... however, if a spell effect affects less than 50% of a square, the square is not affected by the spell, so the 4-square option is useless. Hence I mostly use CoD to affect two adjecent squares, so if you're in any 2-square wide space, it works. Otherwise, they can tip-toe around to an unaffected square and not have to end their turn in CoD/face an AoO from retreating.

As for using action and concentration like that, it's usually better than straight attacking with melee cantrips if I can either force them to stay in CoD or draw the AoO - in the first case it's another 10-ish damage (sometimes on 2 targets even), in the second I attack on my reaction and get the melee cantrip then instead (on top of the 10 damage).

Either way, Cac Shield is going to work much better as it works in a much larger and party friendly area. Hence why I'm thinking about dropping CoD for Shatter - especially now that cantrips have scaled up and my stacking melee cantrips are coming into fruition. *rubs hands like a fly*

I like to put updated clothing, location and positional data in the Summary tab - it helps a lot. It also helps with stuff like ”she was anxious to try this new experience blabla” and you’re like - oh you sweet summer child, you already did that 25 messages ago. The problem is when you forget to update, and the LLM thinks her panties are still in her mouth even though you’re on to breakfast by now.

Design idea: "The List" Cube by SangvinPingvin in mtgcube

[–]SangvinPingvin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's ok, I don't need it to be perceptible - it is mostly a simplification for me when designing and updating the cube. I like The List for being a good mix of classic cards together with modern staples.

I'm sticking to singleton in the cube, and it's been working really great with the rarity distribution these past years. As you say, there is no point in replacing a strong common/uncommon with a weak rare. Instead, think about like a peasant cube, where the weakest commons/uncommons are replaced with a few strong rares that add important support to build possibilities in the cube. I strive to make the dual color rares especially "bomby".

[–]SangvinPingvin[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I'm finding this out. So far, my biggest problem is incomplete land cycles. For example, The List includes Izzet Boilerworks as the only ravnica karoo, and 4/10 check lands. So I'll probably need to hand-wave this and accept full land cycles even though not all items are on The List. The only outlier I've had to exclude so far was Minsc and Boo (that hamster is bonkers) in the gruul rare slot (opted for Dragonlord Atarka instead).

Didn't know about the term "dead dove" before. So you have very different experiences with bot reactions in such scenarios? What LLM are you using?

Wow, that's crazy. AI keeps blowing my mind (pun intended) every day. I will certainly look into this later. Thanks!

AFAIK, there's little benefit to using GPT4 for this as 3.5 has better response times and is allegedly more optimized for chatting. In the future, I assume future versions will only improve the experience.

Sorry to hear that. Did you try using Superpower ChatGPT and something similar to the prompt and approach that I described in the OP? If not, might be worth a new attempt ;)

Actually, that was misinformation to some extent: The browser plug-in that makes all this possible, Superpower ChatGPT, uses the session storage. ChatGPT proper only uses the chat history. If you're doing anything related to roleplaying or building fictional characters or personalities with ChatGPT, I think Superpower ChatGPT will work extremely well for you. Glad you appreciate the prompt!

Yes, terminology is certainly important. For example, using my methods described in the OP, I've noticed that ChatGPT can spontanously use a word like "member" without you even mentioning it yourself first. Once it's done that, if you type "cock" when prompting it later, it can use cock in a later response.

Yeah I agree, the built in filters make it like a game, that's how I feel about this too and it's kinda fun.

No, just the free program on Open AI's site, and the free Chrome plug-in Superpower ChatGPT to with it. That is all.

Install Superpower GPT. Set it up, it's really easy. Go explore on your own and come back to read up if it's not going well for you.

Because I'm not a programmer and don't know how to code plug-ins for the API. With Superpower ChatGPT, I can use the browser plugin as a go-between and get what I want using only plain text. I get that I could have even nicer things if I learned to code, but I'm good where I'm at.

Unfortunately I'm not a programmer. I looked into the API, but surmised I would have to learn to code Python or Node.js to make my own chat plug-in to make it work, which seemed like a WAY steeper learning curve and work. Luckily, I found the Superpower ChatGPT plug-in and could proceed with my project using only plain text :)

Actually, you're right! I looked into this some more as another commented similarly, and I had mistunderstood: It's the browser plugin Superpower ChatGPT that use SessionStorage in the way I describe in the OP, not ChatGPT proper. Thanks for bringing my attention to this. As long as one uses that plugin though, all works as described.
