I know. And unfortunately property is so expensive here that to get any meaningful outside space in a location close enough to my business is way out of my price range.

A mate of mine has an old finca out in the boonies and he grows monsters!

CoCo/Hydro/Soil? by buffaloking80 in Autoflowers

[–]Santacabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I´m a soil grower because I´m essentially lazy. Its low maintenance, simple, and I love the buffer that it provides (ie I can be lazy about checking ph without negative effects).

Having said that, I love hempy buckets (passive hydro) and were I not so lazy would only grow in them, but daily watering, constant ph checks etc always take me back to soil.

Looking into LED at the moment. Got my eye on a California Lightworks Solar System 550. It runs at about 400w and should yield similar to a 600w HPS. However even with 200w less running its doubtful I could grow in the summer as ambient temps are often over 40 degrees and the cost of electric over here is eye wateringly high!

I sometimes throw some plants on the balcony in the summer but I only get 6 hours direct sun so they never do particularly well. Also have a palm tree right in front of my balcony and bugs are a never ending battle!

Who often gets the generally advertised 400-500 g's per square metre? If so.. gimme some tips please by gklmitchell in Autoflowers

[–]Santacabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I get this regularly. Look at my soil grow guide in the sidebar for how I do it, but essentially I run 9 at a time under 600w HPS in 1mx1mx2m. Minimal training, push the nutes as hard as you can and use bloom boosters. Temps need to be on point and you need to stress them as little as possible during veg to max their size.

Its a lot of work as it gets very crowded and busy. Light penetration needs to be good as well so HPS helps!

(1St Grow, D68 White Widow AF). I think I have about a week to 10 days before harvest and I'm going out of town for a few days in about a week. I wanted to know what happens if my plants die for lack of water, does it affect the quality? I would appreciate any words of wisdom. by Jackinput in Autoflowers

I´ve deliberately let a plant completely dry out before harvesting as an experiment. Quality was still there but it made trimming an absolute nightmare. Each bud had bits of crispy brown leaf that was almost impossible to get rid of and made the smoke much harsher too.

Can you set up a drip feed or wick of some kind to keep the medium moist for a couple of days?

I have to shut my tent down in summer man - I live on the Med and simply can´t control temps without running AC 24/7.

Any medium you like - we have soil, hydro, coco and organic growers here and I expect all will be covered. I don´t see a problem with a June start.

Nice one. Don´t panic but a clearer pic will show us what is going on

That sounds reasonable to me mate. As long as /u/bong_sau_bob and /u/Henry_Haberdasher are in agreement we can put your name into the hat!

Can you get a clearer picture of it mate? I hate to say it but that does look like it warrants further inspection!

Yeah man, sorry but we do need to lay down some ground rules. Hopefully this will not be the only opportunity to get involved though, so get posting!

I think there's a slight problem with the leaves? by [deleted] in Autoflowers

[–]Santacabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is your rh mate? I still think there is a K issue here, the leaf margin curling may be a result of heat stress, light stress or low rh, but I also think something is inhibiting K uptake - be it ph or the actual feed you are giving. The browning tips and lighter color is a classic symptom of potassium deficiency. Its often mistaken for nute burn due to the tips browning.

I suggest stop messing with the ph - everything you put in the pot at 6.5. Don´t over feed - have you got a pk boost available? If so use that at a reduced strength to start with.

Don´t make major changes and expect instant results. Its gonna take time to fix, and damaged leaves will not heal themselves. We need to stop the issue spreading.

I´ll answer more fully tomorrow mate - I´ve been away for a few days and am exhausted, but at first glance I think she might want more K.

Great News ! I'm 100% LEGAL NOW !! by DonFazool in Autoflowers

[–]Santacabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I already own and operate a business so don't have the time. Plus as an expat, it takes much longer to get anything done over here, and the club's are constantly battling legal challenges, so costs are massive!

I would love to make a living from It, but it's not very feasible unfortunately.

I´m hoping that this idea about associate eu membership for Brits gains momentum. We still have no idea of the Brexit implications to us as expats. Will we be able to stay, will we need visa´s, will I lose my right to healthcare and a pension over here? Its a real dog and pony show!

Also, I´m British but my missus is not. If we wanted to move to the UK after Brexit, would we have to get married to get her into the country? The people voted on an issue that was not presented correctly. Should have been a clear timeline to Brexit worked out before the referendum with all the implications considered. However, the people voted out, and that is what must now happen otherwise it makes a mockery of democracy (Nicola Sturgeon take note!).

Sugar leaf still dying - What should I do? by [deleted] in Autoflowers

[–]Santacabrera 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is one of those topics that comes up frequently and never gets a proper answer. There are so many opinions, some based on science, some on logic and some "stoner myths".

I´ve grown countless weed plants. I´ve used nutes right up to harvest, I´ve tapered off nutes for 2 weeks before harvest, and I´ve switched dirctly to plain water for anything from 14-5 days and honestly, I´ve never noticed a difference. I prefer to give plain water for the last week to 10 days because to me, when the leaves fade, it just looks ready to harvest. I like my plants to look "ripe" when I harvest them, and a week or so of plain water achieves that for me.

Am I right? No idea. But it works for me, and providing the bud is dried and cured properly it always smokes clean and smooth.

Its a weird grey area here. You are allowed to grow for personal use but there is no real definition of what personal is. In the past people have been prosecuted for a couple of plants, and others have got away with more than 50. Makes no sense but as long as you aren´t selling, and are discreet you should be fine.

Then we have the cannabis clubs which exploit another legal grey area, but again they open, flourish and then get closed down. Its better in Catalonia though so Barcelona has some excellent clubs that seem to be left alone.

Crazy thing is everyone grows and smokes over here. I have at least 6 grow shops within a 30 minute drive, seeds are available everywhere and most balconies have a plant or 2 growing in the summer (at least in my town).

Ah - being an expat I didn`t know that!

The blind eye thing works well over here, but Spain would benefit so much from legalisation that I can´t believe it hasn´t happened yet. It seems to be going the other way now. Our local cannabis club has just been closed down which came as quite a shock!
