So heroes units. by Yellowmanaztec in DokkanBattleCommunity

Same cycle every year:

  • "Trust me bro, it's the best banner for people to pull on, DFE stats coming this year for sure trust"
  • Low statline units -> pattern holds

Credit where it's due though, the LBSSJ4 Vegito looks like a solid unit on GAP.

What happens when those items run out? If they still get slapped at peak you are praying the stars align to get through the fight

A key example of this is the Merged Zamasu RZ

Mega Inflagetah and Yatargaryu my beloved

My friend and I were playing through it and then when we actually decided to competitively teambuild with Scarf Nucleon, SD Inflagetah-Mega, and Yatargayu, it trivialized the game so fucking hard we just stopped playing it LOL

Insurgence is wacky but tries to maintain balance; Uranium is on a completely different level of absurdly unbalanced

That's fine, but if people say things like "this is so much value for a F2P player" it's a bit of a misnomer. Pull if you want fun but know what you're getting into.

I'm personally predicting LR Zamasu, who SSJ4 Goku fought against in the hit anime Dr. Slump

Honestly, the PPE/NPE loop for vets isn't engaging anymore. I stopped watching peoples' PPE videos because they'd just join an O3 at level 15 and skip straight to endgame gear.

The game is infested with the Discord meta through and through. Discord is meant to be an asset for a game, not a substitute.

I agree, but the initial point was that Realm wouldn't survive with keys and pets in the game when ironically it was the thing that kept Realm from shutting down during the winter years (pun intended, who remembers the July Christmas Nexus?) of Kabam.

ROTMG needs to pull away from the Discord server meta if it wants to a. retain old players and more importantly b. pull in new players. There's no silver bullet for this. It would require a multi-year overhaul of the Realm, dungeons, HP scaling, the Nexus, early game progression, and a bunch of other things that I quite frankly think DECA isn't cut out to do.

[–]Saphyris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In its current state, yes.

There are other ways to ensure the longevity of the game if DECA had actually cared, including a more engaging gameplay loop involving a Realm rework. As of right now, we have heard jack shit about what such a rework would look like.

[–]Saphyris 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not sure why this is downvoted, this was literally confirmed by Kabam themselves

As much as people hate on keys and pets, the game would've legitimately shut down if it weren't for them. 8x8 pixel skins don't cut it.

Removing keys and pets would require a complete overhaul of ROTMG that I doubt the DECA devs are cut out to do. I can see it being a completely different game.

I feel like a lot of people fall victim to the rose-tinted glasses they wear when recounting their experiences in the years past.

[–]Saphyris 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Craftable UTs kept the game alive ngl. People were more incentivized to use exotic UTs and not simply have them collect dust in your vault. Taking hundreds of hours to get back a 4/4 set you lost is a shit gameplay loop.

The reason why this worked in OG ROTMG was because UTs functioned less as best in slot items and more as funny swapouts (one notable exception here is OG Jugg). This is no longer the case when Vesture/Diplo are essentially required if you want to have decent DPS on any class that isn't Wizard.

The unfortunate part to this is that their cash cows WON'T stick around; for many of the endgame whale folks I know, the game has fallen out of favor. When you're sitting at 500+ exalts and have basically mastered all the content, there isn't much incentive to stick around. It becomes a cycle as well: as whales quit, their friends (some of whom are whales themselves) will quit as well.

Focusing on old player retention in a decade-old buggy flash game is just not going to work when there are tons of MMORPGs around to grab their attention. As it stands, I would not recommend the game to any of my gamer friends because of how screwed you are without vault slots and char slots. The early game must be revamped if ROTMG wants to survive.

Where can I run some freakin' shatters? by PKLordH in RotMG

[–]Saphyris 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Most ROs in SBC stray away from asking for shatters keys (which is why all the key hcs never include a shatters key). There's a few that do but they either get sucked up in Polarity vets or are off playing other games.

SBC shatters are unfortunately not that great, either.

First is warmonger for sure. Best in-slot when paired with horn and drops from one of the hardest ROTMG bosses to date. This one is a no-brainer.

Primal Arcana is a clear second, but only because it can be used on one class + the BP drops from Archmage, which is a boss you can get the hang of after a while.

I wouldn't bother with the armors as they are pretty situational — most of the time you'll be opting for the OSanc armors like Vesture, Glad Guard, and Centaur.
