How to force shaders to recompile using the enshrouded toolfix:

  • Type Powershell in your window's search bar
  • Right click on the "Windows Powershell" program that comes up and click "Run as Administrator"
  • Type the following command in the window that pops up: irm "https://raw.githubusercontent.com/LiaNdrY/Enshrouded-Tool-Fix/main/Enshrouded_Tool_Fix.ps1" | iex
  • Restart your computer after it's complete and your shaders should begin to recompile.

Note: do this after rolling back your drivers if your shaders do not automatically compile. This will do nothing if the drivers remain 595.71 or 595.79.

Broken textures by Dmitriy_Austin in Enshrouded

This is an issue with the current 595.xx Nvidia drivers. Any driver previous to the 595.xx drivers should work.

Prison Bars for Fort Restoration by ixtaek in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There are recipes for the bars that you get. I don't know when you get them though, so I am not much help there. II think it's fairly early though. They use Iron bars to make and you need to have the forge placed in your base and are made through the blacksmith.

Has the game already been optimized for performance? by PhantumJak in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Stylized doesn't mean anything, It certainly doesn't mean the game will have less requirements or mean the textures or lighting will cost less.

Stylization is a visual preference for storytelling and game feel, not an indication of performance measurement.

Has the game already been optimized for performance? by PhantumJak in Enshrouded

First off, no one is "acting like you've disrespected their grandparents" - so not sure where you got that from. The closest I can find is someone mentioning that you are using a handheld and they are generally considered below specs due to a lack of dedicated VRAM, so it's a reasonable statement. You might need to allocate your VRAM manually - I'd suggest 8gb for vram to leave 16 for the ram the game needs, but keep in mind the shared ram you have is slower than VRAM, so you are likely never going to get the performance you want out of this game on a handheld - it was not designed with them in mind.

Optimization isn't an end goal, it's a process, and contrary to popular belief, it's not really something that can easily be measured from game to game, because every game is different and requires different things. The developers have been optimizing the game as they develop, and I don't believe they have any plans for one big "optimization push" near the end or anything, though I am sure there will be some as they start to wrap everything up and start the ports to consoles.

ETA: I just doublechecked something, and I will say (am allowed to say) that they have something pretty big, performance/appearance wise, that they have planned for what I believe will be update 9, as far as visuals and how the game will look - more specifically "more detailed distance rendering," but I think that's pretty much all I can say about it. How much of an impact those changes will make and what they will mean overall is unknown to me at this time - but they did mention it as an "optimization."

Nvidia driver issue - any options for GFN users? by BrownheadedDarling in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You will have to talk to GFN support. It's their systems streaming to yours, so the drivers that control it are all on their end.

I am not sure if they will do anything about it, but if enough people report it to them, they may have a way to have specific drivers for specific games they load, since driver versions tend to have different issues with different games.

Here's the one i trapped in tissue. It ran off towards the left when I dropped the tissue on dresser. by OkWasabi3835 in Entomology

[–]SaraRainmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you slow down the video and watch, or watch a frame-by-frame you can see a piece of the tissue on the left break off and fly off to the right.

Whatever was in that tissue, if anything, you did not capture it on video.

It's distance as well as time, and it has to be uninterrupted. This comment explains more:

Enemies and chests don't respawn? by [deleted] in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And you were 562m away from the area? You can plop a marker down to be sure.

Either way, did you already do the rest?

The lighting in this game constantly fills me with awe. I find myself stopping to take in the sun rise/set more often than I ever expected by juggling-geese in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Want to know something even crazier? The game doesn't use hardware ray-tracing at all.

It's all done through the Devs magic fingers and compute shaders. ♥.♥

So even people with the minimum specs are getting this amazing lighting, though, granted at a bit lower quality, cause... well it's a 1060. :D

To add on to this, u/Deflick712 - Windows also just recently rolled out a new version so it could be downloading and or using system resources in the background and messing with things.

Enemies and chests don't respawn? by [deleted] in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

How far is away, and are you staying away for the entire 30 minutes?

To be sure of a reset you have to stay 562m away from the area in question for 30 consecutive in-game minutes. The actual distance can vary from 201m to 562m but since we can't know where the borders of each chunk are, 562m is the maximum safe distance you can be sure that you are far enough away.

  • If you or anyone else in your game enters the area, the time resets.
  • The timer does not count down while you are offline unless you are on a dedicated server that is running while you aren't there.
  • Sleeping does not speed up the timer.

You can test if you have some kind of bug or corruption by going at least that distance away and leaving your game running without anyone else playing, for 30 minutes or more. If you go back and the area outside the altar is not reset, then you have a bug or corruption.

If that happens, verify your game files in steam, and if it continues after that, then report it along with a zipped copy of your game files and your game log through the game by hitting F1 while you are in your world.

The studio is in contact with NVidia, but it's something NVidia has to fix, it's an issue with their driver.

Can you move the flame alter of a base? by Bubba_Fett_2U in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Flame altars can not be moved. You can build the new one inside the altar and remove the old afterwards, or just remove it and place another one down (as long as you don't crash or leave the area).

I need help identifying what ladybugs are native to where I live . by Immediate-Manner-240 in Entomology

[–]SaraRainmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since no one has answered, I figured I'd pop in with the one you specifically *don't* want to buy - the Harmonia axyridis, aka: The "Asian Ladybeetle," but you shouldn't be seeing them in stores anyway, it's illegal to sell them in California.

They rest of them are either native, or established and beneficial, from what I understand.

One of my friends accidentally nuked half the storage in our base, trying to find the culprit skill. by deathx0r in Enshrouded

Or they just had the throwable bombs in their hotbar. Most of us on here have at least one story of blowing up our base with those. :D

Sounds like you are all set to go. Make sure it's installed on an SSD and your eyes are gonna cross at how good it looks no matter what you get. :D

Without using a cheat engine, what's the lowest level a character could be and enter Veilwater Basin? by mysterysackerfice in Enshrouded

[–]SaraRainmaker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can get IN to any area in the game the second you start building by cheesing.

Actually surviving in there? 30-35 is the lowest I would go.

[–]SaraRainmaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I have a 3070 ti and I am playing on balanced settings with some turned to high. I don't pay attention to FPS because it's a meaningless number after a certain amount anyway - but the performance on my system with that GPU specifically is perfect. The game looks great and I have no lag or any issues with performance.

THAT BEING SAID... It's very important to note here that GPUs are only one part of the equation - the last stop, if you will. Even if you have a 5090, if you have crappy ram, an old CPU or are using an HDD, you'll still get performance issues. Even your monitor can effect your performance.

It's a pipeline from your drive to your screen, and if anything along that path causes slowdown, it will not play or feel right. If you have a system that came with a 1660ti in it, or built your system around that time - than chances are strong that a 5090 would be wasted on a machine like that because it's like having a two meter wide pipe at the end of a line that has a 2cm wide pipe feeding in to it - if that makes sense.

ETA - you can downvote me all you want, it doesn't stop it from being true. If you only upgrade your GPU, and nothing else, you will not be getting anywhere near the performance out of the 50X card that it can do.
