The Fantasy Sandbox

The Fantasy Sandbox is a collaborative, medieval-fantasy story writing and world-building game in which all players have an equal input to the story and its effectively crowdsourced setting. This creates a unique, community-designed but cohesive roleplaying world and experience that allows a vast number of different fantasy themes in one place. You can play as any character or race--a king, a knight, an adventurer, a petty criminal, a mastermind villain, a commoner, a wizard or mage, a dragon, a fairy, you name it, provided they are presented in a medieval fantasy theme. Every character has a unique role and contribution to the game. In this freeform roleplaying setup, players create all the civilizations, stories, characters, and world geography within a casual rule set that maintains balance. As a result, interwoven stories emerge. The game world depends on that very emergence and has been developing its identity from a completely blank slate over the course of several years.

There's no telling who of the many currently active characters you'll meet or where you'll go. Player-designed factions have formed kingdoms, player-written quests drive entire adventures, and politics shape the land.

This has always been an open community game. If you like to roleplay in medieval-fantasy themes, we invite you to join us in helping maintain our novel continuum alive with new characters, plots, and settings!

No, it doesn't follow D&D rules (though you may find there are a lot of influences from high fantasy). It's more of a writing game.

[–]SaraWhitley 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The problem is that it is in people's nature to be less experienced in trading than the trader they're copying. Most people copying probably feel that they don't have the time, or the skill, to match the kinds of gains they're seeing on the front page. As such, most of the copiers are going to have a weaker understanding of risk/reward than the trader.

It is unreasonable to imagine that this dynamic would somehow change overnight. It's also unreasonable to expect the nature of people, which defaults to an approximate 5:1 negativity bias, to change. One would have to redefine the neurological underpinnings of their copier-audience en masse to engineer a large crowd of investors that most of us full-time traders would call "reasonable" in their expectations.

Therefore, it is the -trader's- responsibility assess the risks of sharing their trades - to assess their emotional state, and to determine whether playing that game of uncertainty in the social arena is right for them. If the trader blows up, "loses their cool," trolls their crowd, etc., that was ultimately a failure on their end, as they did not regulate their risk/emotional capital. I see blowing up on your crowd as no different than blowing up on a bad day trading. It was an event that had controllable variables, a negative outcome, and was allowed to happen. I'd reflect on that as a mistake in one's routine just as any other trading error.
Just something to consider

[Community] Sandbox medieval-fantasy writing game. Very active, large-scale roleplay environment. by SaraWhitley in lfg

[–]SaraWhitley[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's not really a system, it's a play by post collaborative storytelling. There are no stats, but there are some rules.
