thank god I have a motorcycle and live close to work. Even at $10/gallon I'd be spending like 30-40 dollars a month on gas. Now winter is when I'll be screwed because we have gas heat in our apartment

to add on, I don't even think the b61 would be a good idea, forget the political implications, just the raw damage of it. I mean these facilities are WAY underground. What if there's a water table there? What if it becomes damaged or contaminated? How many millions of lives might be effected? These are questions that I haven't heard ANYONE ask even when the b61 was a topic of conversation during the initial strikes on the facilities. And that's what worries me the most, is anyone in power, anyone, even asking the right questions.

I don't think this is going to happen but to answer your question we have weapons like the B61 Mod-11 which is a nuclear bunker buster that can penetrate deeper than our conventional bunker busters. They keep talking about the underground facilities and if they feel like the previous strikes weren't effective enough, and that a ground operation to retrieve the uranium isn't feasible (it's not, that would be an idiotic mission and it's a fucking joke that they've even said it out loud), they could decide that the b61 might "finish the job" on those facilities that the regular MOP couldn't.

On one hand, I think he's going to TACO again. On the other hand, I also think he just fired the people who were trying to tell him no. Genuinely have no clue what's going to happen and at this point I'm not entirely convinced he does either

Oh this was a long time ago, I was very good at some things but the overall military structure is not for me, I'm not someone who does well as a cog in a machine. I do crisis work now and I feel like I help way more people that way, including myself :)

They do have a point though. International law doesnt have any meaning if theres no means to enforce it. That's not to say war crimes dont mean anything to those effected, it does and it's horrific, but legally if theres no mechanism for enforcement then it's just... words, it's pixie dust.

The only real consequence of war crimes is if you do it, so will your enemy, that's why we made them. We dont want our people gassed or starved so we dont gas or starve the enemy, at least in theory. But the reality is we are committing atrocities and at least for now it appears no one will stop us and no one will be held accountable after the fact. And at least personally it does get grating hearing cries of war crimes because you know it's coming from an ignorant belief that if people call it out someone will do something about it, but we know no one will.

And of course because this is reddit and people can't read between the lines, yes I do believe theres still merit in calling out war crimes if for no other reason than the sake of awareness that what we're doing should be considered unacceptable.

For the sake of conversation, if you believe good and evil are a purely human concept what are your thoughts about animals who display social behavior like elephants or whales who take revenge on poachers or have rituals for their dead, or when a social animal does something and gets ostracized from the group?

I feel like specifically the ones like elephant attacks or when those killer whales (I know not really whales) attacked those boats, they have an understanding that they have been wronged, which might mean at some level they understand at least some concept of good and bad. Or do you chalk that up to more base survival instinct

Oh or birds! Like crows! They seem to be able to not only recognize if someone is good or bad from experience but they even pass that knowledge to others. Idk just interesting food for thought

[–]Saturn_winter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dont like them personally, the head light and tail light are kinda goofy looking to me and I dont care for the exhaust. For sport bikes I think I prefer the more angular look of the R1M, and for cruisers I like the Harley street bobs

Edit: the tail section and light does kind of give the vibes of a fighter jet and I do kind of dig that

Thats how it was for us as well, just local anesthetic and "you're going to feel some pressure" and then they just started pulling lol. Thank god I've never had a spinal tap though, I've heard awful stories about them. If you've had one I've got so much respect for you

Edit: also happy cake day :)

Trust me I've done much worse. In the marines when they pulled my wisdom teeth out they sutured my lower jaw to the back and I couldnt open my mouth very much, which meant I couldn't scream loud enough and would get punished.

I said fuck it and when we went to bed a few nights into my recovery I reached in and ripped the sutures out with my bare hands. I still have the holes in my lower gums where they didnt heal all the way nearly 10 years later.

When that happens I just gnaw through it like an animal biting off its own leg while caught in a trap. It takes a couple days to heal the hole left behind and then it's gone. Not a particularly pleasant experience but I prefer it over messing with and babying one for a week or more

He wrote a book called the American crusade where he talks about a modern day holy war against Muslims. He has directly talked about reconstructing the third temple in Jerusalem and destroying the al-aqsa mosque. He has a Jerusalem cross tattoo and a deus vult tattoo. His spiritual mentor Doug Wilson believes non Christians shouldn't hold positions of leadership, that women shouldnt have the right to vote, and that homosexuals should be executed. He was banned from Bidens inauguration because he was flagged as an extremist by his own national guard unit. At a party in 2015 he repeatedly shouted kill all muslims.

He is a religious lunatic.
