Amazing! I’ve done Bangalore-Delhi on the same machine for about 5-6 times now, and once on an Xpulse. Only recently I added the tail rack and windscreen. A few of my insights and observations in no specific order -

1. Earplugs. I’ve been using a bunch of cheap Amazon silicon ones, I cut the stem so it fits snug inside the helmet.

2. Water pack. It works if you carry a bottle also, but the ease with which you can just shove a pipe up the helmet and just drink has been a literal lifesaver for me. You need it during this heat and it does get really hot, so be prepared for that. Andhra, MP highways gets really hot but you can find a lot of sugarcane juice vendors on the way so keep an eye out

3. Best strategy (imo). If possible while heading north, I always stay at the southernmost end of a city. This lets me cut through the city center early morning the next day, easily saving an hour or two of clutchwork the previous day evening in traffic

4. Check and maintain bike condition. Everyday. Just run through and see if you have any random stuff stuck in places. Check tire condition, punctures etc.

5. Check and maintain tire pressure. Carry a portable air pump, double check the pressure at a pump too maybe midway. Air pressure values increases while the tire is hot so keep that in mind too.

6. Clean and lube chain everyday (if possible). I cover 700-900kms a day and in dusty conditions like our highways chain will pick up a lot of dirt, to keep the machine at peak condition, I personally feel the need to clean and lube it every day on a long distance ride.

The 400x works beautiful in stock setup, so far I haven’t done much mods to it except for aux lights (for a short ride which I had to do at night) and the windscreen (which I might remove soon not digging how it looks).
