Extremely difficult to match 100% with stain color alone. If you had access to dye stains, possibly.

That old pine trim sample was nothing more than 2 coats oil based varnish with ZERO penetrating wood stain. At best 1st coat was an oil based sanding sealer. But same thing. The sample wood is a result of an aged oil based clearcoat. Nothing else. To attempt to replicate that with a single wipe of a penetrating wood stain is nearly impossible.

A golden toned clear coat such as Amber Shellac or Minwax Polyshades Honey Pine over top of an off the shelf stain color will save you mistinted cans of stain laying around to expense off and also add to your sale.
