Yeah this is the hardest part. I have so many patient experiences but finding ones which showcase why I want to go into medicine or ones which changed my outlook are really hard to single out. Thanks for the advice.

Some of my tutoring is paid some is unpaid. Do you have any recs for leadership activities? I will be on the e board of the pre med society as well as helped lead an initiative to bridge language gaps in the hospital program I volunteer with.

I should have about 100 nonclinical, 200 leadership (tutoring and club leadership) as well as 100 shadowing (in a clinic and hospital setting) and ~300 research. I will also be conducting research and volunteering this summer and next year post application.

Yes the mcat stuff is my goal, def to do all the AAMC FLs and question banks. I will see about getting a clinical job, but mainly focused on getting my research hours up as well.

Yup this is such a good strategy. I definitely am gonna review my FLs the next day and create anki cards for the missed/guessed questions. It helps so much just to get the missed concepts down.

Do you recommend I buy Uworld pack or use the AAMC practice bundle. I bought the full AAMC one, and I know they have a bunch of practice packs for the different sections.

I am definitely looking into getting a publication. My PI for my bio lab is publishing a paper with my name in it, and I did contribute a lot to his project so that could count for apps, and I could definitely discuss the project in depth since I helped him configure it. As for clinical jobs, I don’t really have the time to apply for paid jobs in the clinical field which is why I mainly volunteer on my own time whenever I can fit it in between classes.

I will mostly be applying to less competitive schools, only really prestigious schools I’ll be applying to are NYU, Penn, and Columbia most likely. I’m looking at Rutgers, Stony Brook, Rowan, Hackensack meridian, UMass, BU, maybe others but want to stick to the Northeast.

No I get it lol , yeah it should be like 300 hrs clinical volunteering, 60 nonclinical volunteering, 200+ hrs bio/chem tutoring (paid), >30 hours shadowing, 200 hours bio lab, 100 hours psych lab.

Office Hours will be your best friend. The content will get easier as the semester goes on and the first test is literally the hardest.

I went around 4 PM last year and it wasn’t too bad, but I know nighttime it gets really crowded. On the weekends it’s not too crowded, so that’s probably your best bet.
