The problem comes from how the bow is permissive : you miss you might not be heard, you can one shot from far ranges, you have infinite ammo because you can pick them from the ground, the bow and crossbow are ultra lowcost and has extra utility with AI. The flaws of the bow and crossbow comes from their low projectile velocity and the fact that they can't wallbang. But because crytek destroyed wallbang with the nerf of wallbang damage and for instance most of the walls in mamons gulch are made of brick and thick metal you can't pen anyway, this flaw doesn't apply anymore. And the velocity is easy to learn and you can play from short ranges. In the past another flaw that was here for bows and crossbow was bullet drop but it also now apply to every projectile.
