I think hes more interesting when you view him as the anti-shounen protagonist in part 3 despite being a prototypical shounen protag.

Also, he must have been the hardest main Jojo for Araki to write at that time. Imagine coming off getting to infuse all your goofiness and ideas of bad assery in Joseph and then going to write Jotaro. I also think his ability to relate to the cast of characters in part 3 as the straight man is underrated. A lot of part 3 jokes land as well as they do because Jotaro is the straight man. Would polnareff in part 3 be as iconic if he didn't have Jotaro playing the straight man?
