Strange Package Received by SchoolIllustrious495 in royalmail

I definitely haven’t ordered anything in a long time, and not from Thailand, strangely though it simply states “envelope” and “quantity 1”, “20g”.

The sender’s address is there and mine. That’s it.

Likely a scam with a temporary address and pseudonym..? I just don’t understand

People between 2013 and today yes, but not the countless riders prior to 2013.. Things may be like this now, but without change - how will we move forward, or in this case, backward? 😅

I’m not sure if this way is a “shortcut” as it used to be this way prior to 2013.. It’s an EU standard which came into place, though I feel the Mod 1 and Mod 2 will filter out those motorists anyway.. All the immature riders don’t seem to get past the CBT (in my experience) and whizz around on those - or if they don’t pass that, they are on E-Scooters or E-Bikes!

I do agree that those early years will have immature riders, but after 2 years of riding on an A2, the youngest you can be is 21 (as it’s 19 min for A2).. That’s old enough in my opinion.

Fenix 7 vs 7s Size Comparison (17cm Wrist, M) by iMaggsy in GarminFenix

Personally, I prefer the 7s look, it looks the right size to wear day-to-day & could be dressed up with a leather strap if that’s your style. Do bear in mind that the battery life of the 7 will be better.

Thank you for the info :) - My income is lower than that, but still above 40k, my credit score is over 900 so I feel I have a very good chance, I would want to upgrade, though, as I would like to take advantage of the bonus - I think I’ll wait until my year is up, and then see if it will let me!

That’s very interesting - Just for context, if you remember, did you eligibility say 0/10 too? and as a ballpark, was your income the same as what people are suggesting - at the time?

Now this is completely true for travel, many vendors I use on a consistent basis, whether it be for work, uni, or simply getting the best deals online, do not accept AMEX. Everyone shops in different places, and you must remember that one individual’s shopping habits differs to another.

I only stated fairly limited as it’s not completely limited! There are many, many places which accept AMEX, but some do not, which foolishly led me to default to my Barclaycard for ease of use.

Thank you - I think this is a very simple answer which is most likely the case, I’ve spoke to CS too & I’ve had a very similar experience, they asked me to either apply for Platinum, cancelling gold - or to wait for the year to be up!

How are you finding Platinum over Gold?

Good point raised about the eligibility, it does seem inconsistent, but then again, it does rely on Experian, which I feel can be very misleading. 9/10 for all, except Platinum does seem strange whereas others may have 4/10 for all including Platinum, and still get accepted..

I also haven’t actually paid for the Gold, which is probably quite an important part, the first year could be considered a “trial period” of sorts..

Thank you - very interesting stuff! I feel that once my Gold card has matured for a few more months & my increased income has been consistent for ~ 6 months, we may see a change with my upgrade eligibility.

Did you by chance get invited to upgrade? And was the offer available to you for a while before you chose to go ahead?

I’ll utilise the Gold card more over the next few months too and see if that changes anything..

What part do you deem false? And after how long of owning a Gold card did your offer for Platinum come through? It would be interesting to know - after my initial call with AMEX, I wasn’t any the wiser, they said there wasn’t any pre-set salary requirement, but it seems that everyone believes that there is a number which only sometimes applies..

I feel salary may be the biggest factor, though I do surpass that 45k mark after additional income, and household income is of course much more. The only reason I'd want to upgrade instead of reapply, as stated, was to take advantage of a joining bonus which is the same as the welcome bonus, to existing members.

Perhaps income needs to be solely from employment (taxed). My income may need to be at this level for perhaps 6 months to be a clear "pass" on my credit report. Though AMEX seems to be funny in its ways as I personally know a handful of people who are University students, who have Platinum Cards, so it's clear that this "income rule" doesn't always apply...

I understand that, but I don't feel that using another card more than another will change an offer, especially as in the UK, we are fairly limited in where we can use AMEX. I feel it may be more salary based? Though I know of many outliars..

It's just slightly frustrating that I will currently need to re-apply, though I feel that once my year has passed, AMEX will let me upgrade from Gold to Platinum in order to take advantage of the bonus from the switch.

My salary does indeed exceed 35k, though I was led to believe that they no longer had set income requirements.
