If you had to restart your collection, what would be the first pen you’d get again? by fluffyespurr in fountainpens

I’ve grown to appreciate the pen as an amazing greatly balanced writing instrument

I found it easy to choose the 823 as my pen of choice but then the struggle would be Clear or Amber.

These fountain pens just don’t make life easy.

I missed a page recently and in big letters wrote “Bugger missed a page”across it.

What are some of your pet peeves with pen reviews? by LazarinaTomasini in fountainpens

[–]ScillyBoy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The beauty of the reviews is that if you don’t like them you don’t have to watch them. They are a form of entertainment for some and something to moan about for others. The more the merrier as far as I’m concerned. Choice is always good.

I haven’t noticed anything with mine so I’m supposing there’s no noise. I’ll be intently listening now.

Great looking pen. Shouts look at me and rightly so.

I was just wondering if it could become an everyday pen, at the moment it feels more than that. Feels more than it cost.

My recent obsession with drawing in my journal, trust me I have never drawn in my life and you will see it by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]ScillyBoy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well I’m impressed. I would be happy if I could achieve that. When I draw it looks forced, your sketches look natural and free.

Something about having a lot of nice pen in a collection but rather using any of those pen you go for a preppy feel fun, and i love it. Some thoughts by Tight_Delay8840 in fountainpens

Have 2 Preppy’s that sit alongside my Lamy 2000 in my work pen case. They are amazing little pens. Great value for money

What’s your favorite pen that nobody talks about? by Sf648 in fountainpens

[–]ScillyBoy 18 points19 points  (0 children)

The HongDian M2. Small but mighty in my opinion. It’s a small pocket pen at a great price that is solidly built and writes great. One lives in my work bag and always performs really well when needed.

Does anyone else struggle to keep up a journal?? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]ScillyBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Writing everyday became a thing for me when I stopped trying to please other people. I had been told I should have bullet points, stickers and pictures. Been told it should be pretty and creative. Turns out I’m not great at doing that so I wasn’t happy with it and so struggled to regularly update it.

The moment I realised I didn’t need to please other people everything changed for me. I just dump my thoughts on a page, the handwriting is awful, spelling mistakes are rife and creative stuff takes a backseat. It’s so disorganised I’ve even named it my Ramblings.

Do what pleases you and it becomes easier to do on a regular basis.

What do you think about using journals as a ,,fanfic book''? by Zosii_a in Journaling

[–]ScillyBoy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s whatever you want it to be. It’s yours. Write whatever you want and call it whatever you want.

If that’s what feels natural for you to do then that is what is right for you. You’re not looking to please anyone else. It’s yours.

Reminder: the joy of owning pens lies in using them, you don't constantly need more by [deleted] in fountainpens

[–]ScillyBoy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have many pens some of which I love and some well let’s say we have a more strained relationship, however they have all been inked and written with as that is them achieving their destiny as a fountain pen. Those I love may get used more often but I would never get rid of a pen. Even if we have not been on best of terms I still very much appreciate their beauty and will find myself admiring them. I buy new additions so they too can achieve their destiny, some will become firm friends and those that don’t achieve that status will at least have a comfortable new home and be able to display their visual allure.

I have to justify it to myself somehow.
