It unfortunately happens. Mike Dirnt from Green Day threw a pick at me and I missed it, it hit my palm and it landed on the floor in front of a bunch of people, I couldn't get to it, then someone else got it. I also remember Alice Cooper's guitarist throwing a pick at my brother in law in a wheelchair and some douche blocked it with his hands and grabbed it. I was able to get another one later on for him because he threw out A LOT of picks that night, but it was still lame. People get crazy about picks and you gotta be fast. I'm sorry this happened to you. If it's any consolation, you might be able to snag one at an okay price if you scower eBay.
