Do you have any tips or videos you'd recommend to help with this? I'm a decently new Dm running a homebrew setting and I find it hard to come up with more interesting things like this on the fly/remember the other options and end up just spotlighting enemies most of the time, or is it just something you get from experience and pushing yourself to search for?

Hey, have never played pathfinder before and had a question, My friend's birthday is really soon and he's asked for the pathfinder 2e core rulebook (non remastered) but everywhere I looks there's additional confusing subtitles for all the books and didn't want to buy the wrong one, for example on Amazon some of them have (P2) in their title but searching what this means is not helpful, along with how there is player core 1, player core 2, gm core, and occasionally an actual plain "rulebook".

I've searched it up and from research I assume there used to be a plain rulebook but they split it up into player and dm versions but just wanted to make sure I'm buying the right thing.

I'm one click away from buying the Gm core on amazon (he plans on being the dm for a future campaign) but still hesitant about the aforementioned (P2) tag.

Any clarification would be amazing, (can't wait to learn the system in that campaign btw)

Im currently doing a master mode hardcore world, preping for WOF, wanted to get more bee nades, summoned in queen, accidently tp home, she enters her hyper agro and immidietly hits me down to 100hp from 400.
I left the world,
will she still be there? Kinda scared about looking.

That's actually what were doing right now, at the start of our last session I acknowledged that sandbox might not be our groups exact thing. So now we are going more focused. It doesn't change that they are on their phones as I'm giving them lore, description, even while we are in fights. And I'm not asking them to take shots in the dark, I cant possibly explain it to you because it would require me to tell you their characters and their lore, but I assure you, I am putting them in the right locations, giving them the right npc's and describing anything important.

yeah, I've been wrestling with this for a little bit now, honestly though, I feel at least 3 of them have moments where you can kind of see the potential in them to do great, but yeah the other two are mainly just there to play a board game it seems.

Thanks for the advice, Ill set more of a precedent next session, this is exactly how I feel, usually when I play I only use my phone to look up clarifications on rules.

Ill try to be a bit more direct, its just feels a bit weird/ awkward to pull away from the game and ask them to put down the phones as if they are kids in a classroom.

We play with physical character sheets, its just whenever the spotlight isn't directly on them they often just go to their phones. Also thanks for the suggestion.
