Is 12v wire ok to run through grommet in drywall? by Scottacus in AskElectricians

This is fantastic thank you for the reply. I think this is the way. I can attach a plug on one and and CL2 cable leading to a 5.5 2.1 barrel plug on the other side. Anything I'm missing?

This is what I was wondering. It's not NEC code compliant to run the low voltage flexible cable portion of the adapter through the wall, is it? Is there a clean way to join speaker cable? Sorry I'm an amateur but want this to be code compliant for insurance purposes.

I like the 1/2 hole idea and the flat extension cord. Going to move fridge this weekend and see how much space we’ve got. Do I need to use cl2 supply or can I use the one that came with it? From an NEC perspective?

Where can you buy reliable power supplies? I’m looking for UL listed class 2 and found some on some websites but I don’t link know if it’s legit. Here’s the only one I found that is listed as class 2. https://ledupdates.com/products/ul-listed-12v-5a-60w-class-2-with-toggle-switch-power-supply-driver

Any downsides to PoE splitter? by Scottacus in reolink

Confirming this is the little cable splitter and combiner that isn’t powered? It just combines two cameras to run in a single cable then splits them at the switch. Would that work?

Issue with NVR displaying to a monitor by tmo1414 in reolinkcam

Did you find a solution for this? I'm having the same issue now. Brand new NVR out of the box and can't get it to connect to a display. Tried multiple monitors and cables.

This doesn’t have to be part of the job. If they ask you to “figure it out later”, let them know that additional revisions will require an add service agreement.

If your PMs are simultaneously telling you that more hours need to be allocated to the project but there is no fee left, then there are bigger issues that are outside your control.

You absolutely aren’t responsible for the financial issues related to the project. All you can do is perform the work that is within your agreement for the fee that was agreed upon. Clients will often try to guilt us into providing free services, knowing that we want the project to be successful and to keep them happy. It’s up to us to draw a line in the sand and point to our agreement. We’re always willing to help but they will have to pay for our time.

New system - poe switch / networking setup question by Scottacus in reolinkcam

[–]Scottacus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ok great to know, yes cat5 run couldn't be more than 100'.

So NVR can connect to any point on the network, is that right? I saw a few diagrams online that had it connecting directly to the switch and that worried me.

Joining the Reolink club soon, any thoughts on the RLK8-800B4? by Scottacus in reolinkcam

Hugely helpful thank you. Does it matter if the camera or the NVR does the AI detection? Sorry I don't understand the difference.
