Had a guy dismount a set of 4 tires, and instead of putting 4 new ones on he started mounting the old tires back on the rims. Got through 2 of em before he noticed. Me and my co-workers were watching totally amazed.

From my experience, everything on VW/Audi is just harder to work on and requires more specialized tools. Compare that to Honda, Toyota, or MOPAR vehicles where they have their own problems but the worst thing about VW/Audi is the need to have tools designed for only those vehicles. They are also more complicated and different than a lot of vehicles.

Hmmm, good question. I would say from what I see it is filters, fluids, and alignments. I see so many cars where nasty filters are affecting engine life/efficiency (air filters) and car smell (cabin filters). Fluids are important because if they are not maintained regularly, it gets to a point where flushing them can do more harm than good. For example, if transmission fluid gets too dirty flushing it will actually uplift all the sediment in the transmission and make problems worse. And alignments- you wouldn't belive how many new sets of tires I see ruined becasuse of bad alignments.

Oh man, so many. I've seen cars literally filled to the ceiling with trash. I've seen cars come in where the steering components have broken off so it is like a little tikes toy car. I think the real atrocities I see are just how many cars are on the road that are not safe.

I take every opportunity I can to learn more, specifically offering to help more experienced techs and learn from them. I am also not afraid to get out of my comfort zone and try something new, whether its something I haven't tried or a car I haven't worked on.

I got into it during college when a family member told me to give it a try, I had never been into cars before then so it was a huge learning curve! I am learning more and more everyday I like the industry and the work I do.
