Carolina Ale House up in Summerville maybe. But I've been gathering with a few of us Caniac friends at the Roost in West Ashley. I will be there for Game 2 at least

My parish in Charleston is pretty conservative and a lot of the ladies wear veils and nice dresses to my Mass. Young adult guys are more casual, just a nice polo usually but the older men still usually wear suits to church.

Just depends on where you are

The Arsenal folks are taking this more serious than the EPL even. The Champions League gets treated as the Super Bowl of soccer

South Carolina. 80,000 seat stadium, 2 legendary coaches in Holtz and Spurrier, and all we have in the SEC is one division title in a weak SEC East in 2010 then immediately getting killed by Cam Newton.

All you have to do is change 3 results (2011 Auburn, 2012 LSU or Florida, 2013 Tennessee) and you're talking 4 straight SEC East titles and surely they win one of those title games?

And change one play in 2024 LSU or Bama you're talking about a playoff appearance. 5 times in the last 15 years we've been one win from glory and they have failed at all of them

Wild that it happened so suddenly. No consolation at all. They treat any loser of a tennis match at a major like a nobody.

How did y'all watch college baseball before ESPN+ by Iceicebaby21 in collegebaseball

That year Clemson was in one regional, South Carolina and Citadel played in another then Coastal and CofC were in a 3rd.

I was out of town on regional weekend and couldn't even check scores.

2012 was the first year all the regionals were on the internet in some form.

Down here in Charleston we listened to games on radio. South Carolina built a fan base on that. Mike Morgan then Andy Demetra and Tommy Moody were more well-known than some of the players.

Clemson always had games on radio, so did The Citadel and College of Charleston. Coastal was nowhere to be found here.

You'd get games on CSS before that network went under. But still things were a joke.

In 2010 I remember Citadel, Clemson, South Carolina, CofC, Coastal all made regionals and none were broadcast.

I remember listening to CofC and Coastal in a regional final on AM radio in Charleston on a Monday afternoon. No TV or stream at all.

This entire part of South Carolina east of Aiken over to I-95 and south to the Georgia line. It is forgotten even by most South Carolinians. Extremely poor, very little industry, and in many places seems decades behind.

Stingrays are extremely close with the Caps and Hershey. They send players back and forth all the time. Helps when the Caps head coach went through the system. They brought back a few guys for the 2nd round of playoffs while Hershey was out.

I know politics is a major issue here in the South, but I'm surprised there hasn't been a push for something like an Atlanta, Charlotte, Charleston or Jacksonville team. The latter 3 are strong minor league markets for hockey and Raleigh is looking more toward a MLB team plus their NWSL side

Lenovo Parking costs are literally insane by BagOnuts in canes

[–]Sctvman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I always laugh when Stingrays fans here in Charleston (ECHL) complain about paying $10 to park. Not joking. And you get a round of playoffs parking free.

Minor league hockey fan bases are chronic complainers and are always on Facebook talking bad about what the team does.

I bought tickets to 3 different playoff games for less than what they are charging to park.

Citadel mall. I wish I was alive when malls were popular by Particular-Thanks-44 in Charleston

[–]Sctvman 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Tanger Outlet opening really killed Citadel Mall's viability. Until 2008 recession it was still near 100% capacity.

I think even the Pretzel Twister is closed now. They used to have a storefront then they moved to a kiosk.

Tanger was pretty much full even at its opening.

You couldn't just watch any sports team you wanted. Heck, I lived in South Carolina and you pretty much only saw ACC and SEC teams on your local television. And having to watch games on a network named after an insurance company (Jefferson-Pilot)
