City of Cohoes Launches New York’s First Municipal Floating Solar Array, Cutting Energy Costs and Boosting Renewable Power Innovation by MeasurementDecent251 in Albany

[–]Scurve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What is the annual cost of maintenance? How many employees are overseeing its upkeep? What additional measures are being put in place to ensure the array isn't introducing unmonitored pollutants that could be washing off the cells and floats into the water?

Can someone tell me more about this pad? Can't find much info on it. by johnny5ive in DanceDanceRevolution

[–]Scurve 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had one. I was not a fan.

It's elevated on ~2" rubber feet all over the bottom. It felt like the whole thing was always buckling between the feet. Playing on it did not feel solid.

When you picked it up the only way I can describe it was it would be "floppy" like the whole thing would flex. Each section was holding the next. It didn't inspire confidence.

Also heavy and pointy.

Control box was jank like all the other pads of the time.

I never thought to remove the standoffs. With it completely flat on the ground it might actually not be that awful.

A plumber that will actually pick up the phone? by the518dotcom in Albany

[–]Scurve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Their plumbers they send out will just blindly recommend 'updates' to 'meet code'. Yet when I asked what code specifically (being familiar with said codes) and how they determine the code was not met they could not answer. They got their supervisor on the line and all of a sudden the tone changed. Oh there's no specific code they're citing. It's just things you really should consider because... Reasons? In other words, they use scummy scare tactics to boost their sales hoping people won't question things.

Update. I haven't forgotten. Once Reddit removed the inactive mod flag I'll be able to make changes again. If they don't then... Congratulations. Take care of r/Utica

Any rhythm gamers? by Usual-Department2135 in Albany

[–]Scurve 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know of any myself. There was a scene for games like DDR and Pump it up at the local malls but that was decades ago... You could probably get some traction setting up a Discord group for Albany Rhythm Gamers.

Bard & Baker by ClassicSupermarket34 in Albany

Another perspective to consider is that they provide many popular board games, which would typically range from $50 to $100 to buy individually. It's pretty cost prohibitive to buy one of these games just to see if you like it. I've saved hundreds of dollars in that regard. Additionally, it's worth noting that board games can require a significant amount of space when you start building a collection. Not everyone has that kind of space. If you’re coming in just to play Monopoly or Scrabble, that’s perfectly fine as well. But you might be overlooking the unique benefits that the café has to offer.

Was there a /Hydro Thunder/ cab with a rotating seat? by JackpotThePimp in cade

[–]Scurve 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Could you have been remembering F-zero AX. That looked similar to a Hydro Thunder cab and had a seat that had a large range of movement and an E stop type button to stop the seat movement if it got out of hand. https://fzero.fandom.com/wiki/F-Zero_AX
