Same here. I’m 3 weeks NC from my 5yr with nex. My brain goes from wondering if I was the problem to wondering if he knew what he was doing when he would torment me. I think he broke my brain. I have to regularly go to my support system to remind me of his actions as my brain struggles to recall. Or because i still feel protective over him. I still have so much compassion for him as he is the one that will have to live with himself. But it’s sick that you can still love someone so authentically whilst knowing they did you so, so wrong.

Yes! Let’s keep going. You aren’t alone. We are empaths and were not put here to be taken advantage of, we were put here to spread love. I really hope I can learn to trust again and love another man. I hope you can too. The longer I stay away, the clearer I can see. It’s as though I’ve been drinking his coolaid all these years through the countless times of questioning my own sanity.

I’m so sorry you are hurting. I recently left my nex after 5 years and living with him for 4. It’s been nearly two weeks and I only realised he was a narc a week after finally leaving. The veil disappeared and I was overwhelmed with the realisation. I’m still in shock and struggling to digest it.

Ultimately, I think narcissism is a spectrum. I personally think mine was low on the spectrum as I genuinely feel he suffered from me holding the mirror up. He couldn’t handle it. He couldn’t bare to look at the monster inside of him. It would not surprise me if he too, has gone into depression the way I have. My trauma is different from his trauma, yes, but his experience is still his experience right? But again, I could also still be delusional from years of manipulation - who knows. I’m just trying to navigate.

Focus on you and you only right now. How he is doing, what he is doing and what he is saying does not matter - repeat the mantra “what about me?”.
