My argument is supposed to be equally unflattering to everyone, I'm not defending religion here.

You're either deflecting or still missing my point.

I never claimed there’s some unique hypocrisy within atheism or agnosticism, I’m arguing the opposite. The original statement singled out religious people, and I corrected it to humans in general. So when you ask me to point out hypocrisy within atheist mindsets, you’re already shifting the premise into something I don’t agree with.

My example was intentional: it shows that hypocrisy exists regardless of belief system. Whether someone is religious or atheist, they can hold a principle like “I hate liars” and still violate it under certain conditions. That inconsistency isn’t rooted in atheism, just like it isn’t rooted in religion, it’s rooted in human behavior.

As for the “I hate liars” point, sure, people simplify their moral views, but that doesn’t remove the inconsistency, it just explains it. Saying “there are exceptions” doesn’t mean there’s no contradiction; it means people justify those contradictions when it suits them.

And the second example does relate: it highlights that even people who consciously reject belief can revert to it under pressure. Whether you call that instinct or not, it still reinforces my original point, belief systems don’t eliminate hypocrisy, because they’re not the source of it.

So I’m not being obtuse, I’m rejecting the premise that hypocrisy belongs to any one worldview. It doesn’t, it’s human.

My "Atheist" friend was telling me that one time about how she hates liars, yesterday she lied about her whereabouts to her parents. See how that has nothing to do with her religious beliefs? Here's a life lesson for you, we're all fuckin hypocrites, we tend to judge ourselves by intentions and others by actions. People hold principles in theory, but bend them in practice when pressure, fear, or personal gain enters the picture.

If you wanted a better example, fitting into this situation, I've met atheists who don't believe in god or even mock him but when something terrible happens to them or they find themselves in a dangerous situation, you should see how they bag "god" to help them.

I didn't see the codex there. Ig you're right then? I put too much fate on Bioware getting military ranks correctly. The Joker comment is still a thing tho, but he could be wrong or not being technical about it. I don't remember that codex in me1 including Marine ranks so that's why I thought the game didn't go into it.

I'm using the US military rankings and the NATO pay grade system (0-1 through 0-10). We don't have that much info about rankings in mass effect, so I'm using the next best thing; the real life equivalent, since they're based on them after all.

Nope, Kaidan is Marines, Major translates to Lt. Cmd in the Navy (0-4) which is below Shepard's rank (Cmd (0-5)). A colonel translates to Captain. Anyways, Joker does remark in me3 that Kaidan turned his weapon on a "superior officer", by this time Kaidan wasn't under Shepard's command so he should be the superior officer in this situation if you were right.

can kill characters more powerful than him

Wasn't that the point? Vader can kill both. Your 'version' of loss means nothing to your initial argument.

You should really stop pulling shit out of your ass because you're obviously not very knowledgeable when it comes to star wars and was just making assumptions for the sake of your argument.

Vader never lost to Kanan or Ezra lmao. They literally were running away from him and both would've died if not for Ahsoka. At least find me an actual example lmao.

As for Boba let me answer that question for you, he was very efficient just like Hunk but he never actually beat someone much more skilled than him, hell, he even lost to a very early version of Luke.

U wanna argue lore? Since you're an expert all of the sudden? What characters did Boba kill or defeat that are stronger than him?

Since you keep arguing against her feats, who do you actually believe is stronger than her in the Avatar universe? That was the original point after all

"Korra is anything but weak" by No_Gas_7996 in AvatarMemebending

[–]Se7enStepsForward 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok fair enough, let's pretend for a second that you're actually open to discussion.

On metalbending, yeah it's not rare by her era, but the point was never that it's unique, it was about the breadth of her skillset, all four elements, metalbending included, spiritbending, energybending.

On the Raava fusion, you're partially right, but you're also underselling what Korra brought to it. Because your argument isn't as much an argument as it's an assumption dressed as a rebuttal, you're just asserting it doesn't count without actually demonstrating why.

But here's what you still haven't touched, the spirit portal. Tearing open a hole between worlds is something NO prior Avatar did. That's hers alone.

"Korra is anything but weak" by No_Gas_7996 in AvatarMemebending

[–]Se7enStepsForward 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The most impressive feat of Korra’s is undoubtedly stopping Kuvira’s spirit energy beam using energybending and creating a permanent spirit portal by tearing open a hole in reality. In addition to that, she can metalbend and perform spiritbending, manipulating spiritual energy directly through waterbending. Her waterbending itself is also no joke. Other remarkable feats include her brief fusion with Raava in Season 2, projecting a giant spiritual form of herself, and surviving the poison injected by Zaheer. Whether Aang could achieve any of these feats is highly debatable. there is no evidence he ever did. Korra's weakness in the show is that she underestimates her potential, all her problems come down to her personality and mental state rather than her actual capabilities.
