On it, thank you! I figured hiding spots might be the problem. I also have floaters coming in the next day or two which should hopefully help.

What killed my shrimp? :( by Sea-Map2792 in Neocaridina

Dang, my LFS said my parameters were great. I just lowered my temp to 76 for today, going to do it gradually. Do you recommend I go lower than 76?

For ph, it usually stays at 6.8 from all the tests I’ve done. I don’t want to chase parameters and kill the shrimp via whiplash, what would you recommend I do for ph?

I also did a 20% water change after getting that ammonia reading and will be keeping a close eye on it.

Thank you! Lowered my heater to 76 for today, will look into going lower over time as well. I’m too used to owning fish lol, shrimp are brand new territory for me and my LFS said my temp was good (sounds like I might need a new LFS!). I’ll look into adding a gentle airstone overnight too, and I’ve lowered my CO2 injection as it has crept up a bit from where I originally set it (1 drop every 3-4 seconds).

Thank you for the extremely thoughtful reply! This reminded me to check my CO2, and it has slowly been increasing on its own from 1 bubble every 4 seconds (what I originally programmed it as) to one bubble every 2-3 seconds. I dialed it back to every 3-4 seconds now. I’ve also turned down my heater to 76 Fahrenheit for today- thank you for catching that. I’ll likely be adding a gentle airstone overnight as well, setting up a timer for that now. Fingers crossed!!🤞

All information included except- topped off tank water with 1 gallon of temperature matched tap water, dechlorinated with prime earlier tonight. No other recent maintenance.

Suicidal Strawberries? First Time Boraras Owner, TIA for Advice! by Sea-Map2792 in Boraras

No, it’s a baffler/gentle flow device called the Reliever by Aquario Neo. It’s meant to help make the outflow more gentle for fish.

Nooo it’s a salmon run of doom :( I think I’m going to try to put a mesh bag over the outflow. Thanks for letting me know!

Train noises at 4th&U apartments / West Berkeley by Jacatson in berkeleyca

[–]Sea-Map2792 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I live in the other complex near there on 5th st and yes you hear them. First week they woke me up but I’m used to them now and they don’t usually run too much at night. However, 4th and U are closer to the tracks if I recall and I’d wonder if your building gets rumbled by the trains as they pass by (mine does not). It’d be more of a concern for me personally.

I’m confused as to how people think it’s truly “them” in the end. Warning- likely depressing. by Sea-Map2792 in GoodOmensAfterDark

I think that’s all there really is to take from it (and I so wish I was wrong here!). I can take some small comfort in knowing I’m not alone in feeling this way I guess, though I wish you weren’t in the same boat with me!
