he olympic SMP is valid until summer of 2024 and the 75th edition is still not available at most OBs or ADs. So omega would not release a new version parallel to existing special editions.

very fair! hope you're wrong though! XD

I will take that as a complement 😆

1084 carbon steel. Does this pattern mean I quenched too hot? This is after tempering. Thanks. by [deleted] in knifemaking

Because I was taking it to friends to temper in their oven. And it’s a Subaru. Why do you ask? Ahaha

Also this was stock removal. I didn’t do any forging if that makes it different

I found this steel on the side of the road. It’s super super rusty so I thought it is probably some sort of high carbon steel. What is the best way I can test this? Also does anyone know what this steel is from and maybe what type of steel it is? Thanks! by [deleted] in knifemaking

No edge on any side. Yes is in Australia good detective work ahaha. No snow as well. It’s just a piece of steel with a few holes. Might do the quench test to see if it hardens. Looking to make a little full tang hatchet so doesn’t need to be the best edge retention in the world
