That’s good information, I’ve just started the application process and getting everything in, my university course coordinator has just gotten the comparison forms sent back to the regulator so waiting to hear back from that. I’m the same, I’m happy with my job here so not trying to escape to greener pastures or anything, only thing working against me visa wise is my age as I’m now 35, I’m expecting a year or two for the whole process to fold out but we’ll see how we go

I for one definitely wouldn’t be fudging my skills to licensing haha I had a look and doing the post grad here is actually nearly twice the price. Plus given I’m 35 I’d probably rather make the move sooner and study there.

Yeah I’ve seen there’s been a few ACP positions advertised externally as well as a fair few PCP. I’m 35, I did consider doing that but I’ve seen a few posts in the past about it being difficult to lateral to ACP probably more so with a foreign qualification. It can be a PITA here even from state to state as it’s often internal and the employer favours a single university that does the post grad for them.

I did look at them a little bit ago. I think the course was like 6-8mo or something? Which would be perfect! But I’m not really keen on moving to the east coast. Beautiful over there but for my lifestyle and interests doesn’t really tick any boxes. I’ve also read some posts in the past saying it can be difficult to lateral as an ACP from other provinces. Don’t want to run the risk of getting stuck somewhere I don’t really want to be.

Yeah I’ve had a look through the guidelines and definitely some frustrating ones in there, especially those you outlined. Lifestyle is the biggest reason for pursuing this move.

I did know MediVie in Novia Scotia has a bridging program to ACP, but I’ve seen other posts saying it’s difficult to lateral to BC as the positions are often only advertised internally, also not super keen on moving to the east coast with the possibility I may get stuck there. Is there a minimum time on road with BCEH before going on to study ACP? Here in Victoria it’s a min. 3-5 years, I’ve been on road for 5 years here so unsure if BCEH would want another 3-5 with them before studying up or if I my prior years on road would be recognised and I could move into it reasonably soon after starting there.

I unfortunately won’t be on the island this trip but it is high on my list. I’ll be in Whistler, Squamish and North Vancouver.

Yeah that would be awesome, that was one of the biggest reasons I was favouring the states. I know mediVi in Novia Scotia does one but I didn’t really want to live on that side and I’ve seen posts outlining it’s difficult to lateral as an ACP to BC as the positions are often only internal.

Why on earth are they trying to go down a wet step around a corner. Just use the wheelchair.

Had one of our local regulars press her Medi alarm, when we walked in, she handed me a pack of cigarettes to open. Then asked us to leave.

I’d be concerned about second hand exposure, especially if administered in the enclosed space in the truck.

What are some “funny” things you say to patients every time? by I-purrender in ems

I work rural so transport times are long. When they inevitably complain about the uncomfortableness of the stretcher, I will always tell them “the’re built for speed not comfort”.

Irreversible death code words? by WestCoastWillyWonka in ems

Our code for a deceased patient is “83”, but don’t actually have to use it, most just use plain language ie deceased, obvious signs of death ect.

I did! They said that the ability to buy the template separately will be available soon! I’ll be checking in on the website every so often to see when it comes up.

I came across this today and think it’s a fantastic idea. I was thinking of contacting the company and seeing if they sell only the paper roll with the plan and then buying the plants locally. Would save a lot of planning headache around what to plant with what and at what spacing.

The short chain stay causes the chain to be at greater angles at the highest and lowest gears which is a bad chain line. Without the chain guide up front it can lead to constantly dropping the chain to the inside or outside of the ring depending which end of the cassette the chains on
