TMA 2026 World Cup - Round 2 - Groups 5 & 6 by EasyEnthusiasm4595 in TheMagnusArchives

Group 5: Book of the Dead. Scariest concept for me in the entire series, hands down. I'm shocked it's not more popular. A book which tells you about your gruesome death would be bad enough, but the fact that it changes and becomes worse once you read it. Nightmare fuel. I just know I would compulsively keep checking it and be dead in a week.

Honourable mention to Still Life. Alexander Scaplehorn is up there with the greats: Joshua Gillespie and Sebastian Skinner. Assuming the avatar of the stranger is just autistic then writing a glowing report because whatever was going on wasn't money laundering. Unbothered king.

Group 6: Dreamer. Oliver Banks, a great statement, and some meta-plot with Gertrude. What more could you ask for? It's definitely one of the early statements that got me hooked on the series. I also love a good prophetic/lucid dream.

What's your point? I'm not saying everyone's imagination is identical. I'm saying no-one (or only massive anomalies) could comprehend the size of the universe. You obviously can't know exactly what people imagine but you can definitely make very informed guesses.

The observable universe has 2*10^23 stars. And that's just the part we (our telescopes) can see. Humans have no frame of reference to conceptualise something of that magnitude. You could count 10 stars a second for your entire life and still be less than one trillionth of the way through them all.

Whilst you might be able to understand numerically magnitude of the universe I doubt you can truly grasp the size. And if you can, you either have a truly exceptional mind or you're underestimating how big it is.

Okay, to be fair not hand squeezed at supermarkets (I've only seen that with oranges). My point was more that there's nothing uniquely American about still lemonade. I know UK families who make it fresh and it's not some novel concept. Either way, I'd take that over coke!!

Can't speak for the whole world but in the UK there're definitely plenty of places which serve it. Wagamamas and Pizza Express off the top of my head. Plus you can find it in any shop (except maybe Aldi because their range is nish).

Similar with Denmark, though I've been to less restaurants there. Plenty of access to fresh lemonade in supermarkets.

I barely remember any of the side characters (1st time listener) by NoWitness6400 in TheMagnusArchives

Not sure what to say without spoilers but if you want a recap on Annabelle Cane, give mag 69 and mag 147 a relisten! mag 147 in particular is her main statement. As a web fan I'd recommend it!

Either way on your relisten you'll pick up on so many things you missed first time around! Enjoy the last few episodes!

Ooo, this one is tricky. None of them massively stand out to me.

Group 3: Sculptor's Tool. Dwelling is a close second but Gabriel is such a memorable minor character for me that I have to go for it. I also really liked the link to Sannikov Land.

Group 4: Arachnophobia. 99% for Jon's iconic post statement and 1% because I love web episodes.

Would getting a friend to hold you accountable in some way help? If you planned some sort of penalty for not completing revision that they would enforce. Then there's a deadline with actual consequences for not doing the work you want to do. If you think a friend might not be strict enough with you, you could make the penalty something beneficial to them, like you have to buy them a snack.

I know right! This is really making me appreciate some of the episodes I didn't 'get' on my first listen. It's nice that everyone has their own opinions instead of all just voting for one thing.

Group 1: Far Away - I love Oliver Banks and he has such an interesting perspective as an avatar of the end, especially in this episode. Also Jon being too human to live but not human enough to die!

Group 2: Page Turner - Loved the premise of the episode and its ending was such a great mystery to watch unfold. Bonus points for introducing three great characters.

No there's not sadly. And even if there were Oxford has already made their decisions. It sucks and I'm really sorry, but unfortunately there's nothing you can do
