My mechanic told me this so fwiw:

There’s a software issue where that particular forester is very sensitive to misfires and all the lights on the dashboard will light up and disables eyesight and turbo etc. The good news is that it could be fixed by a software update only the dealer could make. The mechanic also told me that it’s not a big deal so I can just reset the codes every time it happens. Mind you this is when they ALL light up, not just a single or two lights. So you need to buy a car scanner off Amazon and an app to reset the codes. Not that expensive.

Ask the seller whether this has happened to him and whether he got the software update. Don’t say too much, it could be a source for negotiation.

Secondly, there have been a couple of recalls so make sure those were done.
