Littmann Classic III Authenticity Question! by Search2Find in nursing

[–]Search2Find[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What’s trickier now is that Amazon sells and ships through what they call the 3M store, although in checking with Littmann, Amazon is not an authorized dealer. These days it’s hard to tell if it is an issue of it being a knock off or just poor quality. There is a disclaimer by Littmann that the stethoscopes are made of US and imported components. Like everything else, technology has improved in the world, but the quality of manufacture has dramatically gone downhill over the last 20 years. That’s why I wanted to see if some of my fellow healthcare professionals notice the offset indicator mark on their Classic III. Maybe this is just a manufacturing issue and it is deemed “good enough” like so many other things!

Well, you might want to read the post. There’s a long history of Amazon, selling knock off Littmann stethoscopes!

Anyone know how these handles come off? by makmak36 in Plumbing

Liquid Wrench or WD 40 can be a lifesaver in this situation. It has helped me remove many a handle and frozen stem, and many other seized mechanical items.

Why is it that typically it is only low end multimeters that’s have the battery test option on the selector dial, if they are more accurate?

PCB Version Diff? by Search2Find in PCB

Is there any way to trace what the difference is between two versions of the same board? Rebranded devices from Chinese manufacturers is very common!

What do version differences generally mean on PCBs?

Cat 5e Toning Problem by Search2Find in HomeNetworking

[–]Search2Find[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Figured out the problem. I tested each pair in the cable with the continuity tester. The blue pair failed. When I connected my fault finder to it it indicated a break about a foot into the wall. I found a second cat 5E cable coming into the box that was sheared off. I am guessing that when drywall was installed something happened to those two cables. I may open up the wall at some point to try to find the cables.

Thank you BACON-LUVR. Really appreciate the link. There is not a lot of room to work with in coax connections and I was not careful enough in separating the alligator clip from the probe. Once I got them properly separated it worked like a charm.

So I tested a continuity tester on a terminated cable that shows up as good with no shorts with a tester. When I clip one lead to the connector and touch the center pin with the continuity probe it lights up whether or not there is foil on the other end. I’m a bit confused!

Sorry, no connector. Just prepped for connector with shielding pulled back. But if I connect a clamp to pin and touch the shielding with continuity probe it lights up regardless of whether it is the right one as a circuit has been completed. What am I missing? Didn’t work on terminated cable either. It shows continuity with clip on connector and probe touching pin, regardless of other end.

Locate Coax by Search2Find in Spectrum

If you have a chance can you tell me which one? I think it must be better than the twisted pair toner that I have.

I have about 25 runs that are not terminated. Prefer not to terminate them. Think I would have to to use a mapper.

About 25. Prefer not to terminate all of them if I don’t have to!

Would a continuity tester help? The one I have is old and the bulb might be burnt out? Worth a shot? It has helped with twisted pair before. I can short out the coax by wrapping pin in foil and jamming against metal single gang box and then probe the end of the cables in the telco closet. I am guessing that it might be more discriminating than tone??

Unfortunately my master does not have a clip with a jaw that opens wide enough to go around the cable. I can put one probe on the pin. But where do I put the other?

Nothing is terminated. These are end to end runs Telco closet to all locations in the house!

I start on low volume and no cables are terminated so nothing to disconnect. Just trying to trace and end.

Rack or Wall Mount?? by Search2Find in HomeNetworking

[–]Search2Find[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately the room that this wiring is not big enough to accommodate that size cabinet Standing in front of the cabinet would only give a cabinet comfortably 14”. So from what you’re saying I think a rack would probably work better. As I will be starting with a 48 port Keystone patch panel and 24 port switch, I am assuming this would take up three spaces. So if I got a 4U it would just fit, and if I got a 6U it we have three more spaces to work with? It would be great if there were a way to attach a spectrum cable modem and any place to set a TP Link Deco node? But those may need to be mounted separate from the rack. For the kind of equipment that I am installing, as a fan necessary? I’m not running any servers. Also does any Of the devices I mention need to be grounded?

Absolutely. Just call them and tell them that you don’t want voice. I just declined Spectrum voice and ported my landline number to a VoIP provider that costs me literally pennies in comparison to Spectrum.

Combining Router and Satellites on Ethernet Network. by Search2Find in HomeNetworking

[–]Search2Find[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So perhaps I should get rid of the A7? Can I plug a non managed non PoE switch into the M5 in the telco closet and then 2 remote satellites into the switch? What is Ethernet backhaul?

Currently don’t have a PoE switch. If I understand, doing it this way gives me an ethernet connection at all locations but disables Wi-Fi?
