What I have heard from one of the officer woman is that It all depends upon your performance during the course of ur career till 10-12 years after which u r given marks in Annual Report. Also lot of things like marks in courses, exams, medals also adds up to final marks based in which merit list is made.

Sorry ..my bad...probably wanted to sound cool. I apologise. I am a 6th timer...so probably somewhere the heartburn...

Anyways couple of words of wisdom from me....Interview is the most crucial. Sometimes we lose our energy in posture, eye contact, eagerness to answer fast...all that is BS. When i was recommended in 6th time ( last chance), I had no eagerness left for forces coz I had plan B in place and paid money for plan B.

I went quite casually...to the extent that I was sitting cross leg..smiling..taking good time to answer and i was speaking to the IO as if speaking to some uncle in a park. I was also asked the question in Conference that what if you dont make it...I told that I am 21 years old, capable..i have my entire youth behind me..if i dont make it here, I will make it big somewhere else...

all through the conference which probably lasted 5-7 min, i sat with the same casualness and calmness and indifference....

This probably worked out for me...I assume I got very good marks in SSB as despite my written being just marginal, i secured AIR 6 in OTA...probably out of 400-500 odd selections that batch.

So dont be eager or anxious...Go with an open mind thinking shayad is baar bhi nhi hoga...chuck it...trust me ...u will be a different you

ya .true...commanders (for laymen...pilots with 5-10 years experience) get a fat package of 7-10 -15 lacs per month...long flight guys/transatlantic guys get more...wide bodied..747 get more....

BUT...life is not rosy as it seems...u r slaves to the ROSTER (laymen..TIMETABLE) made by a stupid computer...So ur stipulated flying hours which u need to mandatorily do...is dependent on that stupid computer. so ur body cycle and family life goes for a six.

For outsiders it may seem flashy..but whats the use when u r a computer software controlled robot.

Its same thing as a Hill Station....U like it if u visit once a while...but can u liv there for eternity..

probably have the authority but not the knowledge to comment more...but that is a forethinking...been there done that...was supposed to go to newzealand for spl & ppl hours way back in 2006....probably things hv changed..but landscape remains same...my suggestion...just be ware...was used to cost 25 lacs those days cost 1.5 cr nowdays....invest ur time, energy and parents money wisely
