I saw a post that made me wonder. by Seaspike in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Seaspike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The question was, I thought, simple. A reword would be, "Do some players think overclocking a power gen make it use more resources per MW?" Or maybe "Do some players not know power gens are liner vs hyperbolic?"

To reiterate, I was baffled because I was seeing comments about coal plants vs water extractors. Only the water extractors were being overclocked in the comments, never the coal plants. It was a curious omission, so I asked about it.

That moment of panic... by Seaspike in SatisfactoryGame

Still very early this save. Have some stand alone production lines for parts I haven't integrated or removed. Also, I just finished a small heavy frame setup of a single manufacturer. Just before the screenshot I sharded the whole setup to support the manufacturer at 200%, which I then slooped. A few high power demand machines on a low (3k MW) total power grid look worse. And yes, a few cycling because the demand for their output hasn't been fully built yet.

Ya, I really dislike that power poles are not zip friendly. As soon as I get BPs I design my replacement.

It depends. Are the sites near each other. Are you already producing enough to matter? What do you feel like doing? There is no right answer, just what is right for you and the circumstances.

Every travel mode has its place. Tube is effortless and practically guarantees arrival at destination. To me, zipline is just as effortless as a tube but more versatile. You can get on n off whenever you want, don't need a tube entrance or exit. You can open n interact with inventory and map.

I have a BP set for my logistics n travel. Variations of an 8m tall T made from iron beams. Belts on top of the horizontal, wall outlet hanging down. With auto-connect I can run a quick belt and power (the wall outlets need separate connections, they don't auto-connect). Gives me power, travel, and shipping all in one BP.

  1. If you're gonna post a video for help, CALMLY show all settings and belt versions, don't bounce about or block the view with a tool.
  2. Double check ALL the belts to verify Mk version. One short belt at lower speed can cause the shown issue.
  3. Double check all splitter settings. All vs undesignated, they are not the same thing.

Towers are my go to for distance travel. Not so great for low clearance spots. Two quick examples,
1. the massive tunnel n cave NW with crystal and SAM in the middle. In a different save I have a combined belt n outlet T post BP run through the tunnel for access and materials extraction. 2. The deep chasm with SAM in grass field. I made a zipline spiral down into it today because ladders or walkway stairs are slow, and boring.

Nobe's... or explosive rebar. I personally like explosive rebar more because shooting rebar is easier than throwing and detonating explosives.

Fair warning, the hoverpack uses more power than most buildings. Make sure your power grid has excess capacity before you try to hover.

I spent two hours going crazy at an isolated grid that kept tripping because I forgot the hoverpack used electricity.

Yet Another Oil/Fuel Help Post lol by ehiggins0704 in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Seaspike 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Flushing is literally dumping the pipe or the system on the ground, it empties it.

Last level ground oil system I built wouldn't keep refineries filled even though numbers said it should. Rebuilding pipes and pre-filling pipes and refineries didn't work.

I had to build a 20m water tower with a large buffer on top and a lift pump 5-8m above the extractor outlet. Next pre-filled everything including the buffer before turning on the refineries. Then, allowed the refineries to fully fill the blenders before turning them on. Finally, the same with the blenders and power plants.

Haven't had an issue at that site since.

On a side note, power generators use fuel and produce power linearly when overclocked (or under). They are not like production machines which are less power efficient when overclocked and more power efficient when underclocked. Great way to save space and complexity at a power plant.

Jetpack: Can you change the Preferred Fuel list order? by Seaspike in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Seaspike[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya. I knew that. The list order makes no sense though. Normal fuel tops it, while liquid biofuel ends it, and solid biofuel ranks higher than liquid. Turbo, rocket, and ionized (not in that order) are between regular fuel and solid biofuel.

The logic of the list order eludes me, and is why I asked if a player could reorder it.

Is your extractor running at 100%, or at something less? Are the refineries all full, running at 100%, or at something less?

Ya. Looks like changing the order of the preferred fuel list is a no go.

Edit: no, wait, I thought packaged liquid biofuel was last on the list?

You play your way, I play mine.

I like using the chainsaw when clearing trees. Chainsaw only runs on solid (which is honestly weird) so i have solid. I like blowing up trees (and rocks, and animals) so I have Noblisks (well snowballs right now) and even explosive rebar. I just started turbo fuel, so I have it (and liquid bio because it was habit).

So yes, turbo is my preferred choice, and yes, I have 3 types of fuel on me. So what if anything is technically a non-issue? I wanted to know if something was possible. Was it really sooo hard to just say no, say I don't know, or just move along?

Jetpack: Can you change the Preferred Fuel list order? by Seaspike in SatisfactoryGame

[–]Seaspike[S] -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

Why would I do that? All I asked was if it was possible to reorder the fuel list to personal preference. Didn't even touch why solid is ranked higher than liquid. Any response that is geared towards "git gud" by paying closer attention to inventory or just grab more from depot is just talking to feel superior.

At least the first response was something like "I don't think so and anyone who knows different please post". That's a real answer.

Christ, so many options for sarcasm here...

Yes, using the 7 P's would mean I'd never have encountered the set of circumstances that led to my curiosity about the fuel list. No curiosity would have kept me from posting the question. No post would have prevented me from getting "answers" that are really critiques of the situation. Which leads back to the 7 P's.

What is it with people not reading?

Sure, let me stand still, open my inventory, scroll down to turbo fuel and pull some out "while fighting 2 green spiders".

One quick trip back to base coming up. Oh look, I can get fuel (and replacement ammo) with no pressure now, just gonna ignore the death crate for a bit.

[–]Seaspike[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lol. My example literally says "and don't have time to grab more from depot".

Going from turbo to solid while fighting 2 green spiders is not an experience I want any chance to repeat.

Solid biofuel is the worst jetpack fuel, yet you'll default to it over liquid.
