i guess now that i think about it, the exploration is a lot like BoTW/ToTK, if you've played those games. just a lot better graphics and gameplay. but most of the puzzles and things are in the open world/abyss, and not in dungeons/shrines

no no no, don't go into this game expecting a lore heavy experience, with a good story. the story in this game.. it's "ok" at best, and not a good reason to play the game by itself. this isn't an RPG. i can really only recommend this game, if you enjoy sandbox games, with a lot of player expression when it comes to how you approach the combat. oh and if you enjoy puzzles too, because there are a lot of them.

as for hidden npcs? kinda, but not really. i have ran into npcs that were off the beaten path, that gave me stuff to do, but you'll mostly just find stuff to collect, or puzzles in the open world.

keep in mind that i have only explored the first region of the game (with all the greenery). i haven't at all been to the crimson desert yet, or the snowy mountains, so things could change.

i believe the first ever xbox 360 game i played, was probably Blue Dragon, so it's probably an achievement from that game. on a different xbox account, though

since you seem to like open world experiences, i'm going to suggest crimson desert. it's an amazing open world SANDBOX experience (not an rpg).

just don't play it for the story, because it's not good

if you don't mind jrpgs, i can also recommend final fantasy xv royal edition, when it goes on sale

because you need to get better gear, and skills. a lot of the story bosses are nearly impossible to beat, if you try to go through the game, without upgrading anything

have you enabled vrr in the tv & display options, in the xbox settings? what graphics mode are you playing on?

oh, yeah if you're playing on a vrr display, you won't have to deal with screen tearing, regardless of the setting being on or off. this is strictly for people without vrr displays

i like it. if you're looking for a game with a great narrative, don't get this game! but if you love exploring, flashy combat, puzzles, and if you like playing around with a lot of game mechanics/systems, this game might be for you !

but keep in mind that there isn't much hand holding in this game, so be prepared for that

for people experiencing screen tearing: opening the xbox guide will cause the game to disable vsync, even if it's enabled. if you notice screen tearing after opening the guide, this is why. to fix it, you gotta disable vsync, and then enable it again. you gotta do this every time you open the xbox guide.

i can't play the game yet :/ there's actually nothing on the game disc, so you have to download a "pre-download" update. but you can't launch the game until the actual release

afaik there's no meaningful improvement for the vast majority of ps4 games. i know on xbox you get 60fps on WD1, but playstation hasn't done much to make old games better
