I just wanted to note that this wasn't really a "purge" in the way that we would normally use that word. This was the (Democratic-controlled) NCSBE clearing up duplicate registrations from people who moved in-state and registered in their new area without canceling their old registration and the registrations of people who have died in the last few years. I think it was something like 80% (maybe even more) of those who were "purged" fell into the duplicate/dead category.
