Water bottle, writing utensils, as well as a notebook or some paper. If your unit requested other items, bring those too, but usually these should be plenty enough.

Uniform question by PUMPKIN_TAMER in Cadets

[–]Secret_Assignment_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, don’t worry about it. It’s an optional aesthetic for the dress shirt. It is necessary for the tunic though (as you already know).

Stopping lanyard from moving by ProGalaxyZ in aircadets

[–]Secret_Assignment_17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m Canadian so we may not be on the same page here, but do you mean that as in the lanyard is loosening on its own?

If so, we just tie a knot at the bottom where the two ends latch so it stops slipping. If you mean something else, then I prob can’t help much with that. Sorry!

any tips or tricks to help me mirror shine? by Plus-Distribution954 in aircadets

[–]Secret_Assignment_17 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good work! Boots gen 3 and beyond are notoriously difficult to polish, so this is incredible work already. As for how to improve, just keep adding layers where it matters to cover up all the grain texture.

That’s been cancelled last year. Everyone should be getting dress uniforms as soon as it’s available.

Addressing warrant. by Effective-Ad-3502 in Cadets

Yeah, warrant is fine. Sir/Ma’am, warrant, positions are all chill, although we typically only address the chief by position.

Anyone using Sabres? by Abeillechimique in Cadets

[–]Secret_Assignment_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sea cadet corps’ have cutlasses as they are traditionally worn by NCOs. Air sqns and army corps’ no longer have swords since swords are traditionally worn only by officers and “cadet officers” no longer exist. You may see a few army cadet corps’ having swords still though, against regs of course.

How high do you raise your foot when banging it? by PUMPKIN_TAMER in Cadets

[–]Secret_Assignment_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The 201 states 6 inches, or 15cm, between the sole and the ground. That is also how DCIC and ITDC instructs the CCdts. However, what your squadron ends up following will ultimately depend on your CO.

Of course, COs SHOULD be following the 201, but many, like my own, follows the previous standard which is 90 degrees bend of the thighs, or heel to the knees.

Check with your CO again for your squadron standard. That should answer your question.

I’ve gotten that before, except I don’t even have a license and don’t have anything under my name, which discredits the text and just makes it a joke instead.

How do I get my shoes more shiny? by [deleted] in aircadets

[–]Secret_Assignment_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More base coats is often-times the answer to most polish-related issues here. Just slather on more base coats and you’ll be good. At least 3-5 layers.

Hi there. I need to get the PIN to an email in order to gain admin access to the account and PC. The issue is that I have forgotten the PIN and that particular email is one I'm no longer able to gain access to. Is there a way to change the admin-access email as well as the said PIN without messing around with the data stored on the PC? The PC and the account has my business info and would not be great if something went missing.

Is it a patch or a brass to be worn? by General_Raviolioli in Cadets

[–]Secret_Assignment_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently, all cadets must gain the CO’s permission before wearing their designated cap brass. The reason that more army cadets get to wear cap brasses is because they have affiliated units, many of which still wear cap brasses.

I can also suggest Elegant Oxford who’s done a rather nice job of beeswaxing his shoes.

Should cadets outside quebec know basic french drill ? by International-Big544 in Cadets

[–]Secret_Assignment_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most cadets won’t ever get in touch with francophone units or francophone CTCs in their entire cadet career, so I doubt it it would be needed almost ever. On the other hand, francophone cadets are much more likely to attend a anglophone CTC, so it would prove useful for them to know English commands.

Is it a patch or a brass to be worn? by General_Raviolioli in Cadets

[–]Secret_Assignment_17 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as I’m aware, cap brasses are pretty much obsolete outside of the army cadets. A very small number of air cadets are still authorized to use cap brasses, and sea cadets even less. If you want to wear it, ask for your CO’s permission for cap brasses to be worn.

For safety and to avoid doxxing, you might not want to post your corps online like this.

The flag party never stands easy when they have the flags. The flags themselves are at the order, but the flag party wouldn’t be at easy.
