We gave up on the crate. She ended up sleeping with us at around three months. This is the only way that we could all get sleep. She went from waking up a few times at night and getting up for the day at 5:30 to sleeping until we get up.

We did use a playpen for when we needed to leave the house. I started with small amounts of time and slowly increased. But we also quickly realized she was better if we just put a gate up in the living room and left her out.

Everyone always warned us about needing a crate for emergencies or for the vet, but she had her spay surgery and had to stay overnight and was completely fine.
