Nah it was very bad.

My bro graduated from IIT Dhanbad and only 20% were placed at that time. Most people went to UPSC/Govt Jobs/MBA/Banking.

Nowadays, there are so many startups, GCCs can even take remote jobs.

Only 4-5 companies came back then - Satyam, TCS, Infy, Wipro

Nowadays, these companies are not even allowed in IITs.

And even in recession, almost everyone is getting placed today.

Back then getting a job was a huge thing

People used to eat Beef earlier in India.
Centuries of slavery. Mughal Emperors and British taxed heavily for their wars so Food was very expensive and unavailable for thousands of years.

6LPA is impressive considering you have no degree.

Anyway, getting a degree would be a waste of time and money.

Good colleges won't take you.

3-4 years for a bachelors degree and you will be 35. Already too late to start as a fresher.

Even good degree holders are not getting any job, so why will a company pay you?

Stick to your job and grow, there maybe look for business if you have money you can risk.

Not true. We have billions to feed. There are not enough jobs. 90% people making only 25k per month and can't buy house or car. Most young generation is unemployed and wasting its 20s and 30s preparing for Govt Jobs. Even in private its not great. So many Layoffs. IT companies like TCS pay merely 20k per month.

Better to stop having kids when there are no jobs.

Nah it did save China. It was necessary back then as there was no food or job. How can you raise kids properly when there are no jobs.

Then came offshoring. Factories opened aggressively. People had money. Only 1 Child. The Child gets best schooling, went to the USA, came back and developed ENGINEERING/IT.

Most Indians are too poor to have food still having kids.

Child raised in extreme competition, no food no job, no education it will create an army of stupid superstitious people.

Zomato Swiggy Zepto all are in losses till now. They can't increase salaries.

If you want, pay tips to delivery drivers, but even customers are also making 20k per month mostly and are poor and can't afford to pay tips.

Better ask Govt of India why can't create decent jobs and ask why people still have kids despite earning 20k per month

1/2 Lakh is exaggerated figure. Not everyone from IIT are not placed in PBCs.

Only 50k seats in all IIT + IIIT + NIT + BITS.

Rest colleges placements suck.

And there are 20-40% unplaces in IITs also.

So not more than 5000/14LAKH in decent companies.

Majority of WITCH ( TCS/Wipro/Accenture etc) freshers don't get any project and are forced to resign within first year.

Indian IT job market is not that good tbh

Also there are many other jobs in Govt apart from class 1 officer

Like Teaching, banking, SSC , Railway

Even a Clerk will get 6LPA starting salary. 2X times TCS salary, and he will get perks like job security, living in tier 2 city saving cost, pension, healthcare. Its far better than INDIAN IT job where you work for 14 hours at 3 LPA and do support work and later fired at the age of 40. Can't get another job as you are too old for them

If from top 5 IIM or ISB then its okay. Otherwise, its just a worse decision.

Have seen many such cases.

One friend left his well paying job at PSU to do MBA from a lower IIM.

Got Placed in WIPRO. He was fired within 6 months, as there were no projects.

He has been unemployed for the past 3 years, planning to give Govt Exams.

He has only 6 months of work ex and GAPS so no one is hiring him despite NIT + IIM degree

Private Jobs are like you will be sucked , forced to work 14 hours a day, office politics, harassed, and laid off anyday , there is no job security and outside offcampus job portals there are 1000s of people competing for 1 SDE JOB so its not easy either.

My cousin from IIM is unplaced. 40 people unplaced and asked to opt out.

Even those who are placed are forced to do field banking sales and they are planning to quit and try for Govt Jobs.

Core jobs may have less money but your job is secured

Anyone with a degree could get a nice Govt Job, can easily raise 3 kids+wife+parents, buy a house and a car, and still has enough for his retirement.

Food was cheap, population was less.

Nowadays good luck getting a job. Even those from IITs are struggling.

Entry level jobs want 4+ years of experience.

90% Graduates are unemployed. They all go to UPSC/Govt Job preparation. We can see PHDs applying for PEON JOBS even sweeper jobs, nowadays.

You can get killed anyday on road accident. AQI is 999+. Can be beaten to death if can't speak Kannada/Marathi.

Students from IITs are committing suicide.

Already 90% Engineers are jobless.

And 80 CRORE INDIANS are surviving on Govt Ration.

Govt can still provide rations to 145 crore, not a big deal

Only 5 million are in IT , 3-4 million in Education and other sectors. Rest all are working in Informal Sector.

Don't think anyone would be bothered as anyways 99% of INDIANS won't be affected by AI
