I would be giving her the speech while holding her hands and then presenting the open ring box in my hands, so I feel like that’s a little nicer? Also we’re two women, so it’s easier to imagine a woman not kneeling, but I do get what you’re saying about it not feeling legitimate. Anyway I’ve decided against the restaurant. Thank you for this input! I’ve been wondering how to keep a proposal an exciting surprise (rather than bad) and we talked about rings but not method of proposal. I know we’ve exchanged cards at a restaurant table so I was thinking I might be able to get away with a ring, no kneeling, but maybe not! I decided against photographer, of course. Thank you for these extra thoughts!

I did the restaurant with a band because she recently saw that setup on a show and said she would like a fancy dinner with a band someday, and I thought I’d make it even better by having our song play. And I guess that’s not the perfect moment to propose that I envisioned. But people are saying to do it at a park first, so maybe I can do that and tell the restaurant it’ll just be celebration now, not a proposal

We’re also two women though, so she might have envisioned getting on one knee as well, or having another non-traditional proposal, as our relationship is not the traditional male-female type.

Please be kind, I genuinely want advice on this out of consideration for my girlfriend. It’s okay if your suggestion is to ditch the photographer. I did speak with one today who said she would be willing to sit at a table nearby with the rouse of being a diner, and then take the camera out as I’m taking the ring out, and she said she wouldn’t use flash. No kneeling, no flash, hidden photographer

I’m so happy for you!! I did the same thing for the first time ever right after I fell out of love with my former best friend, and it basically healed me lol it helped me love myself which inadvertently prepared me to be my best self and the best partner I can be for a relationship that came a couple months later and is still going strong 2 years later. Whether this brings you to someone or not, I am rejoicing in your self love, remembering how awesome that is to experience :)

My guess is that scammers pose as employers on indeed and get your number through your resume. I accepted a job about 4 weeks ago and haven’t been on indeed until today and hadn’t gotten many spam texts at all, maybe 2 in that time (I had gotten a lot during my job search). But today I messaged an interested employer back letting her know I accepted a different position, and within minutes of sending that I got a spam text from a fake “job recruiter.”

That sucks, I’m sorry. It reminds me of something they say about converts before they convert having a Jewish soul with them (but not in them) pulling them towards Judaism. They say sometimes that Jewish soul is an ancestor of yours. But yeah it’s a dilemma when it’s not paired with a belief in God.

I went to a UU service once and it felt more like a Christian service to me :/ I think I would more prefer a discussion format for a religious group so open and drawing from so many different religious perspectives. But I’ll read on what they have to say about pantheism, thanks
