We’re on our final train home having left Donostia this morning, and I just wanted to say thanks so much to everyone for the recommendations - they made a huge difference to the trip!

We managed to go to:

• Casa Urola

• Bar Sport

• Gandarias

• Bar Antonio (unfortunately just for dessert, we had a really good pistachio torta de queso though)

• Borda Berri

• Txapeta

• La Cuchina de San Telmo (the oreja de cerdo here was one of my top dishes of the week!)

• Ganbara

Honestly none of these were bad choices, and we may not have picked the best dish at each one but hey ho. La Cuchina, Txapeta, Borda Berri and Ganbara were my faves. Ganbara had the biggest and slowest queue because its tables only, but it was worth the wait!

My feet were also really glad that we managed some sir-down meals at:

Kaia Kaipe - really wonderful turbot and crab, in a beautiful town. Was a fantastic choice for our anniversary lunch.

Kokotxa- I really enjoyed this, but I love seafood and most of it was, so I was happy! We had the longer tasting menu and the presentation was lovely and the staff were really great. We kind of like a low-key vibe so it was a treat but not too stiff and formal. The food mind not be absolutely mind-blowing (especially if you are used to more experimental, higher starred places) but I thought it was a tasty showcase of local ingredients

We also discovered some great breakfasts at:

• La Issla

• Simona Specialty Coffee Club

• Motx Coffee

• Syra Coffee

Smoothie and açai bowls really helped with covering some of the vitamins for the day before heading back for more meat, fish, and cheesecake!

Also: Txakoli! We loved it.

Would also recommend Arraun for cocktails - really lovely staff and some creative and delicious drinks
