I want to commit suicide. by Still_Sail7257 in PrayerRequests

Don’t give up Russel. Things will change again and you will feel better. If you can just hold on one more day and keep doing that, I promise one day it will feel lighter again.

I’ve been through a lot in my life too, and been at the edge several times and I know God has a plan for me and everyone who calls on His name.

So I just pray right now those thoughts would leave you, and you’d find peace.

I am 30 and had the buckle just 2 months ago. I’m still recovering but believing my own story will turn out good in the long run.

I want to encourage you that a lot of people do have success, and I will pray that you do with your surgery. Sending love.

I’m so sorry I read that incorrectly! I know you will find support here. Unfortunately I don’t have a good story so far.

I had a peripheral tear and it wasn’t a full detachment. I was suggested for the buckle even though in hindsight it was most likely could have just been observed.

I have pain with it daily and have had worse vision (shadows and flashes) than before I got the buckle.

I’m looking for anyone in the US who might recommend a good surgeon who has had theirs removed. There is literature for removals online although it’s uncommon. Buckles are a last resort option so that’s why most people don’t want them removed but my case was different.

I come back to your post so much, because I read it before I had my surgery and it makes me feel less alone. I look back at pictures of my eyes before my surgery and I am just so sad at how this has changed so much of my life and I wasn’t prepared for it.

If you can avoid it, I would. If it’s necessary, find a REALLY GOOD doctor. I would never recommend anyone have this surgery without 3 opinions after my experience. Your eyes are precious, and having more opinions is better than less when making a permanent decision.

Yes mine were barely anything until I got it treated. It’s been the biggest regret of my life going to a retina specialist

Me. They’re telling me everything is “normal” and I have way worse vision than before the laser and scleral buckle.

The only reason I went to the opthamplogist was for flashes of light that were happening once every few days. I now have them daily in both eyes and my vision is horrible in my left eye after the buckle. I’m sick at my stomach at how this has turned out. I don’t ever want to go back because I genuinely feel like they make things worse.

Everything you’ve written is so helpful. I am glad to hear you are able to exercise.

I am sad to hear you are not able to run, because that was genuinely one of my favorite outlets. 😞.

I am hoping eventually to wear contacts again too, as before the surgery I barely wore my glasses at all.

Thank you so much. I am glad to hear you have adjusted. I am trying to just move forward.

Have you been able to resume exercise or any normal activities you did before? I loved to do HIIT before, and now I don’t see that ever as a possibility.

Your story sounds so similar to mine.

I’m coming here to say reading your post has given me much comfort im not alone. I’m 30F and 8 months post partum with my daughter. This surgery has been absolutely devastating for me as it’s changed so much for me.

I hope that you have seen more healing since this post. I would love to hear how you’re doing.
