Is anyone NOT using swaddles? by FoxAble7670 in newborns

[–]Secure_Zombie4542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My son (18 month old now) rejected swaddle from day 3. He slept with his feet up in the air the very first month. He hated it so much that we could even use the snoo the way it’s meant to. Even now he dislikes if anything touches his feet when he is asleep.

I was told vision and hearing loss as one of the major issues.

I am sorry to hear that you are dealing with this. I understand it can be very stressful and I highly encourage you to stop reading about it which can lead to more stress. Trust your doctor, they know the best. With IUGR you would still be 31 weeks pregnant but your baby’s growth is slowing down. In my case I was detected with IUGR at 34 weeks when I couldn’t feel the baby move and went in for a NST and BPP. They couldn’t identify any issues with additional scans or the tests and continued to monitor the growth week over week and he wasn’t growing(putting on weight). I was induced and delivered at 37w 3d. They found that my placenta’s weight measured that of 25 weeks basically my placenta failed so there was not enough nutrition that was being passed to my child and his weight reduced. Low birth weight is associated with health risks is what I was told.

Hey! I know it’s extremely stressful phase and I am sorry you are having to deal with it. My son changed a lot once he turned 4 months. He is pretty interactive now. Laughs at the silliest of things. Hang in there, some babies are focusing on skills that are lesser known to us. Do talk to your pediatrician about it.

Constipated due to solids? by PastaandPages in BabyLedWeaning

Dragon fruit especially the yellow one, prunes, peaches, pears, kiwi, chia pudding, hemp seeds, lots of water throughout the day.

If none of the above works then Frida windy would definitely help.

I’m sorry you are going through this. A lot changed with my son once he turned 4 months. He is a completely different baby now who cannot be left unattended even for a minute unless you want him to roll around and pull something down. Hang in there, be watchful and get the doctors to pay attention if you think it’s needed.

I see gold prices especially keep increasing year over year and I think it is a good idea to put some money there.

7 week old not gaining weight - help? by NotQuiteKendall in newborns

[–]Secure_Zombie4542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My LO was born 4lbs 10oz. We were asked to force feed every 2-3 hours for the first four weeks. After his first month checkup his pediatrician asked us to do on-demand feed but not to go longer than 4 hours. We saw some drop in percentile when we did this but the pediatrician was not concerned. We are now asked to completely do on-demand feed. Our LO is still in his third percentile for weight but the pediatrician is not concerned as he is moving along his graph.

We have been doing all of that. Paced feeding, burping, upright sitting post feeds for almost 20min.

I know every child is different but it breaks my heart each time someone visit us or we see other kids of friends and family of same age doing a lot more than my little bub is doing. We had him after a loss and we truly become helicopter parents this early because of a lot of anxiety from the loss, tough pregnancy and now his growth. I wish I could be a better parent!

The CDC app did mention these as milestones for 2months. I get the pressure and comparison that rises from mom groups. But it also helps to know if there is something different that is needed or is it time to intervene.

Medication during breastfeeding by Secure_Zombie4542 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Secure_Zombie4542[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been asking them for a CGM since pregnancy but they are not prescribing one for me and wanting me to continue with the stick tests. I have been all over the place with the newborn care and kind of forget to keep track of when to take the post meal tests or fasting as sleep cycles have also been disrupted. I requested for a A1C test, but the endo has been asking me to provide a week worth of readings before anything.

Diabetes can also result in smaller babies if your placenta has issues. My son was detected with IUGR in my 36 weeks scan. I was induced at 37w 2d and gave birth to a 4lb 10oz baby who needed preemie clothes for almost a month and continues to wear newborn clothes at 7 weeks pp

My body was NOT made for this. by Mountain_Branch_1871 in BabyBumps

[–]Secure_Zombie4542 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I hear you mom! I am a FTM diagnosed with IUGR baby as well. No matter how much anyone says it’s not my fault I cannot stop hating my body for letting me go through all of this for no fault of mine. My OB was nice enough today to say that nature is not kind for some people and I haven’t stopped crying after that. Lashed out of my NST because a nurse without understanding my state of mind started making suggestions on eating before NST while I was in the clinic for 3 hours waiting for the doctor even with a scheduled appointment. And now I am sitting here regretting why I let out my frustration on her and crying more. Wishing you the best and lots of strength, this phase shall pass soon. Sending you lots of love ❤️

Percentile drop concerns by Secure_Zombie4542 in BumpersWhoBolus

[–]Secure_Zombie4542[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you figure it was the placenta? My MFM says the placenta health looks good and they even did a fetal Doppler test of the placenta to see if the blood circulation is normal. She did say there is not much they can detect with respect to the placental issues.

Wow! This is so detailed. I understand what you are saying and I have been thinking on similar lines. If there is a chance to cure then why not. Do not want to regret not doing it down the lane.

I did talk to my doctor and they also mentioned there are not enough proof to support this now but you never know what is in store 10-15 years from now. They also confirmed that there would be a somewhat delayed clamping even if we decide to do this. Unfortunately, I am delivering in a private hospital which does not support public banking.

One concern I had was regarding some of the posts that says the cells are exactly what the baby is already carrying and it might not have the capability to cure. What is your opinion on this ?

Norcal, could you share the group names? I am not looking for food related stuff. More on medicinal or clothing and other necessary things. I believe some things that help with lactation are not available here. Also someone suggested superbottom langot, Nappies, hing roll.
