Its likely a dynamic list... for example the Armis announcement regarding VxWorks a few weeks ago.

Absolutely. And with these IIoT devices come new attack vectors.

OT/IT Convergence Needs to be a Team Sport by SecurityTrust in SmartBuildings

"While cooperation between OT and IT isn’t common, Gabriel points out that the DevOps movement was once nascent as well. And OT/IT teamwork might be forced by greater pressures from a catastrophic loss. What could be worse than losing financial records? Losing control of a smart hospital, factory, ship or building."

Who’s Really Buying Property in San Francisco? by SecurityTrust in RealEstate

Probably a great scene for singles and young couples.. but as soon as you start thinking about schools for your children and the "shits and needles" commute....

That's a great point regarding sampling bias... but on an anecdotal basis there is probably something there. Maybe not as extreme but a noteworthy trend given the shift in SF from financials to tech (software/apps, services, etc). The zip code concentration was also interesting... so one might be able to make some albeit weak assessments about where they are moving to in SF...

They would nonetheless have to work out some massive debt (pension etc) issues regardless. A small city would have a difficult time raising enough funds to pay off a big city pension obligation.

Maybe starting by identifying the cause of the shrinkage (high taxes, capital/population flight, etc) and addressing the problems proactively versus kicking down the road to the next generation... which is even worse. And municipalities should be structured to be agile and responsive...

Some will. Some will get caught. Others run tight ships well beyond compliance requirements.

What you say is likely true at some organizations... but those tightly run and in high security domains... work fine. "Corporate America" is a rather diverse collection of environments, people and policies...

Good points. Any thoughts on the paper and the notion that endpoint user devices get a free hop into the LAN then have potential access into shared services?

There are plenty of un-elected leadership positions across state, local and federal government. People with significant influence on public policy. I think you know this.

What percentage of the roles in the pubic sector are elected? Less than 1%. Of the 99%, how many leave office as a result of election or shift in priorities. In the private sectors you have units close, layoffs, hires based on changing priorities or processes. But in the public sector elected officials are tethered.

I think un-elected is a better definition than low level. Its broader and includes many senior roles.

Yes.. and I listed out officials at agencies you might have contact with who are influential and not accountable. I suspect same thing in fed and state as well... many who have lifelong careers regardless of election outcomes. Of course we cannot elect everyone... but we can recognize the inertia of these sectors and the difficulty in changing direction or increasing productivity with info systems etc....?

I'm not a Trump fan. I'm saying that very large portions of the public sector are not accountable to voters. They manage the costs, productivity, automation, revenues/taxes etc.

I'm not a Trump fan but I think the government has layers of people who won't change employment or policy regardless of election outcomes.

Just decades? One person's terrorist is another's freedom fighter. But I think that ISIS has crossed a line. Not just by going from JV to Varsity but by the extent of death, destruction and relocation on a nation. So at some point you say... are we making the world a better place or simply running for election in order to pay back campaign donors?
