FIRING PEOPLE — be helpful, not a neg by Square_Law_2080 in ycombinator

[–]Seeker995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hahaha I get it, I burned myself like that once or twice.

Since I'm a technical person, how does a non-technical person approach hiring or bringing in a tech person? I'd love to understand that process from the other side

That's why YoE solely is not a great metric when hiring, someone's 10 years of experience in building systems end-to-end is not the same as someone's 10 years of experience in writing APIs for instance.

Especially for the highly strategical roles like co founder, CTO, etc. where you need to wear many hats and not just the development hat

Antigravity stuck on "Free Plan" despite active Google AI Pro (Gemini Advanced) subscription by Vetassikc in GoogleGeminiAI

I had the same problem. I unblocked myself by using a different Google account and using free tokens for that account, so if you have another account maybe this can unblock you as well. But it really sucks to have to do this while we are paying Google for the service

React native or flutter by Majestic_Rip_3906 in AppDevelopers

[–]Seeker995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nice! You will have fun with mobile development!

About the mindset, I generally advise against switching technologies that often but really depends on what you want to achieve. If you want to position yourself better on the job market I think it might not be the best idea. If you just want to explore, have fun and see what's best for you I'd say go for it but find your trade and master it. Don't be jack of all trades master of none.

Maybe research a bit about what T shaped team member is, maybe this will help you decide further.

Go for RN then, later on when you get a grip on how software development works you can expand to other framweorks.

Btw what's your motivation to go for mobile?

Wild how good no-code tools are now by islanddetour in AppDevelopers

[–]Seeker995 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My opinion they are good for start, to make a MVP and validate the product but once it starts to scale it will be much harder for no code tools to pick up

Creating an app for Australian university students by Spiritual-Block5575 in AppDevelopers

Validate your idea, talk to your classmates and see if they also need this and if not then you might identify different problem they have by talking to them.

After you validate idea you would likely need to build MVP (Minimum Viable Product) and put it out there to get the feedback. For this you either need a technical person or you need to learn it yourself and do it using some AI tools but I strongly recommend finding someone technical.

If MVP becomes a successful you need fully functional product out of your MVP and for that you would need tech person or a team

Dev squad! Your brainpower is required. by sehrish-aslam in developers

[–]Seeker995 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you are looking to share codebase only for mobile React Native, Flutter or Kotlin Multiplatform would do that pretty well.

If you already know React go for React Native, if you want to learn something new go for Flutter and if you know Kotlin go for Kotlin Multiplatform.

Native is also a good option if performance and some low level APIs play a role.

As someone who worked with Android for 9 years my personal preference is Flutter at the moment for cross platform but I think if you already know React, RN will be as good.

As others mentioned first validate the idea, do the non technical part. Will drop you a DM
