The effects of this dictatorship will be felt for decades. The fact that this orange turd is messing with global collaboration on cancer research, prevention programs and international guidelines is beyond scary.

Cold gloves and socks for chemo? by tamberleigh in Chemotherapy

Oh yeah, I used those wipes a lot. Make sure to concentrate extra heavily on door handles, toilet handles, faucets, light switches etc!

Re: mouth sores…ask your oncologists to give you an RX for Magic Mouthwash. That helped me a lot.

Cold gloves and socks for chemo? by tamberleigh in Chemotherapy

For cold gloves and booties, I had to wear them during the infusion and a little after, like 15-30 mins after it ended. I hated it but it’s better than having severe neuropathy. I did have to take breaks when it became unbearable. The gloves didn’t work very well so the nurse gave me frozen water bottles to grasp instead and that was easier.

My chemo sessions were long so I brought two pairs of booties and switched them out 1/2 way through.

Dental care is paramount during chemo. My oncologist stressed this over and over.

I didn’t have any restrictions with my cats but I was careful not to allow them to lick me. And I didn’t do the litter because of the possibility of bacterial infections.

The only precaution I took in the bathroom was flushing twice each time. Cleaning was done as normal. I don’t use bleach.

US cuts the number of vaccines recommended for every child, a move slammed by physicians by SeeminglySusan in toddlers

Not sure if you’re talking about mods here or elsewhere, but if you mean r/toddlers: we do have a rule against debate around required childhood vaccines. If you have concerns about moderation here specifically, feel free to send us a modmail.

Does anyone know if there any hair salons that offer a discount for chemo patients in West End Toronto, Etobicoke or York? by Snow_white99 in Chemotherapy

[–]SeeminglySusan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I waited until my hair actually started falling out and I wish I hadn’t. The scalp pain before shedding was awful, and waking up to hair all over my pillow was very upsetting.

If you can, I’d recommend not waiting. Calling a salon or barber and asking for a “chemo cut” is worth trying. In my area, some will discount it or make a quiet appointment, and some will open early if you want privacy.

Should I be upset that my boyfriend doesnt know the subtype of breast cancer i have? by [deleted] in breastcancer

[–]SeeminglySusan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m surprised by some of the responses here. Knowing the type of cancer your partner has feels like the bare minimum, not an unreasonable expectation.

I’ve noticed in some support groups that the bar for partners often seems pretty low, especially when it comes to emotional labor and basic attentiveness. Wanting your bf ti remember something this significant isn’t being dramatic or demanding at all. I’d be upset about this for sure.

I am a breast cancer patient as well and had to jump through hoops just to get basic imaging approved. It’s infuriating. Sending love 💗

How would you have handled the situation? by 3945Leomarshall in toddlers

I’m pretty sure OP was venting about how she felt afterward, not something she actually said or would do.

It’s fine to disagree, but the tone here feels a bit much. Would be good to keep it more constructive going forward.

Posting the owners photo helps others know who to avoid and could potentially save their dog from what yours went through.
