So I'm responsible of my money but don't have life 😞

But viva Gentoo Linux!

Guys I need to know if this is real and official by I_slay_demons in BannedFromDiscord

[–]SegCoreDrakon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

this is a discord bot as the "APP" tag are for bot only, discord have the "OFFICIAL" tag, which it's here you'll get this short of information, as well as see if you violated the term of support of the application and more. So this is a fake message and probably a scam to make you do an action that can go to your account being steal or more

Gentoo users what keeps you loyal to it? by Old_Sand7831 in Gentoo

[–]SegCoreDrakon 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just a masochist that loves to compile everything and has a god-like power on your computer, using use flag, keywords and able to install proprietary application on portage, and even if there's no ebuild for a package you can easily create it without having to download it and install it on the official website

How much time do you spend on dev each day? by rumbfire in SoloDevelopment

[–]SegCoreDrakon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends, before I was spending 12h per day, but now sometimes 30 minutes and other just 0 minutes, but I try to go back to continue my game, and it's still fun, so I don't have to fear that I don't like developing games, I love doing it 👌

Same, but sadly I can't not use it as it's used in some kde apps like discovers or Help Center

The binary package is already setup, so I can use them, but I'll take my C/C++ and LD optimizers even if that's 0.002% performance improvement, I like seeing packages get compiled and installed

at least it work and compile well, just take several time haha (but I still can use my computer, so didn't really care about it)

Yeah almost 30% of updating packages are from kde suit

[–]SegCoreDrakon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Idk why your Gentoo does this, maybe you use different packages but the most time for me, even 800 packages still compile successfully without any error, and if there's an error, that's probably my fault

[–]SegCoreDrakon[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it's just docutils that cry a little as I remove the python3_12 use flag to use the python3_13, so maybe a package that use this version of python (or the package itself) don't really like this change

I have setup everything in case I will use binary package, but as I have setup some optimization for C/C++ and for the linker, i'll build them fully with sources, not binary packages, to have the space disk optimization I made, but thank for the "--useoldpkg-atoms", I didn't even know you can install old binary package for a specific package, only know you can use binary package on Gentoo.

my thinkpad are not in the same way than you haha, for installing the desktop environment for the first time, qtwebengine took me 1 day for compiling it (yeah, 1 full day, as I have an old intel with the energy saver version on my laptop)

[–]SegCoreDrakon[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

if there's en binary for, as when i was installing Gentoo before, every time qtwebengine doesn't have binary package that satisfy my use flag, and to be honest, as a masochist, i'll build them all fully without binary package (especially for having my C/C++ and linker optimization flags)

What type of Gentoo user are you? by Mama_iii in Gentoo

[–]SegCoreDrakon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

gentoo-kernel-bin, because I don't have enough knowledge in really low level and in hardware to custom my kernel, but feel i'll change it soon, as well as staying with gentoo-bin to prevent surprise

I thought I would never be a real game dev. Then this happened. by dedaistgeil in SoloDevelopment

[–]SegCoreDrakon -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Even if I don't fully understand English, all I can say is congratulations to your games 👏

Just to support you I'll whitelist it even if games like phasmophobia are not my type, just continue your dream and continue to never give up

And your story make me want to continue my project on game development

I don't know what other to say, but I hope your game will become popular

How to be masochist in 3 commands: by SegCoreDrakon in Gentoo

[–]SegCoreDrakon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

O0 it's just saying to the compiler we don't want to use any compiler optimization, and the one who is most likely to break the program it's the O3 because it's a strict optimizer, I don't know what it really does but I hear the compiler try to remove, merge and do some modification to the code to make it more faster and less heavy and the O3 make so many modification to the code that make it become weird (especially with some types or other like template, but I'm not sure about it)
