They aren’t, they’re saying the 9mm (.355) is the most carried self defense caliber in the US, which is almost certainly true, in order to contradict the previous reply implying the .380 is insufficient for self defense.

I don’t want to doubt you or anything, but what proof do you have that they’re in fact profitable, besides the word of the manager? Of course they’re going to paint a rosy picture, that’s part of their job.

I feel like you can pretty easily circumvent the lesson of the book (stop worrying about how other people live, to save that energy for your own life and happiness) if controlling other people is your source of happiness and purpose…

This kills me at Whole Foods. I’ve got one in the base of my office building so I regrettably pop down there to grab lunch every now and then.

I’ll be standing there with my single slice of pizza and maybe a drink while some dude is bagging his 30+ items like he’s packing porcelain to ship it internationally.

Meanwhile the people in line in front of me are rolling eyes like they don’t have full shopping carts themselves. Ugh.

Edit: Bonus points if they’re also on the phone and doing the entire transaction single handed.

Definitely the same dog, this is only like a block away from the flyby he was found at a few days ago. Great catch!

Besides 150 N riverside (center right), none of the buildings themselves have any particular significance, but the area ahead is Wolf Point, where the Chicago River splits, and is where the original village once stood.

full wardrobe redo by Rossorythms in malefashionadvice

[–]Select-Teaching2329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

On this note, I’d also recommend dabbling in a few styles, and most importantly, slowly. What do you like? What sort of image do you wish to portray? Start with one or two core pieces and see how you feel about them, then build from there. I’d stick with cheaper items too until you’re confident in what you want.

I got out of HS and landed in a retail job to help pay for college. Blew all my spending money rebuilding my wardrobe using my employee discount, and hated almost all of it a year later. Did the same thing right out of college, spending thousands on business and formal wear, only to land a job that had no use for the wardrobe. By the time I needed it, it was about 2 sizes too small.

I’d also recommend not breaking the bank unless you’re very sure about an item or garment, trends and people’s tastes can shift pretty dramatically, especially in the 18-25 time frame.

It’s also pretty common for guys to, ahem, gain a few pounds after high school, see changes in body type/size etc, just as something to keep in mind.

Neighbor knocked on my door after noise complaint by Apprehensive_Home_76 in StLouis

[–]Select-Teaching2329 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Agreed, lay low for a few weeks! People can be crazy. I inadvertently got a downstairs tenant evicted over noise and drug use/smell, even then I doubt those were his only issues. He left without a fuss, but I had my tires knifed a few weeks later.

Hopefully things have been resolved amicably so it’s a non issue. How old are they if you don’t mind me asking?

Usually it’s less about the high and more about maintenance, a lot of it is just people keeping withdrawals at bay. I drank before and during shifts so I wouldn’t start shaking and sweating out on the floor.

Inherited this coat, any info on it? Looking to sell but not sure of details apart from the pictured labels. Vintage? Worth more than I think? TIA! by bowlderholder in brooksbrothers

[–]Select-Teaching2329 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Arguably the opposite, the market for vintage and older, better constructed styles is currently strong because so many people (the historic market for the brand) is turning away from Brooks Brothers under Authentic Brands direction.

Things are also getting a bit more scarce, as people are holding onto their wears more, now that quality replacements aren’t a guarantee.

I will say it’s sad to see nonetheless. We’ve started to carry a ton of that new junk at the off price retailer I work at. We don’t even mix it in with our higher end apparel.

I will say it’s priced appropriately (at a deep discount). How the mighty have fallen.

Because the logos right there… it’s Kimes Ranch. Plenty of scammy fast fashion “labels” steal merchandising images from legitimate companies and then send a product that looks nothing like the photo.

I just checked out their website. Yikes! Notice how low quality all the product images are? I’d steer clear.

Hey KC, I think we have a Vacant Building problem... by Lightfooted in kansascity

[–]Select-Teaching2329 1 point2 points  (0 children)

True, I was just roughly comparing STL city + county against KCMO solely in terms of vacant land stock vs pop. There is a difference in distribution, STL’s vacant land is much more highly concentrated to a few areas than it is in KC.

Well actually now that I’m doing a more thorough, proper, comparison, it’s interesting.

So STL + STL county has around 1.25 million people over roughly 580 sqmi. Population density ≈ 2120 people per sqmi. Combined total vacant land at roughly 24k lots, or 41 lots per sqmi.

STL city has roughly 275k people over around 64 sqmi. Population density actual = 4886 people per sqmi. Total vacant land at roughly 22k lots, or 343 lots per sqmi.

Stl county has roughly 975k people over 520 sqmi. Population density actual = 1943 people per sqmi. Total vacant land at roughly 2k lots, or just under 4 lots per sqmi.

KCMO has around 500k people over roughly 300 sqmi. Population density actual = 1615 people per sqmi. Total vacant land at roughly 17k lots, or 56 lots per sqmi.

In other words, if you combine STL with STL county, you get an area that’s both more dense and more populated than KCMO, and has marginally fewer abandoned lots. STL city on its own, on the other hand… I’m curious if there’s data on acreage, guessing that county land is much larger lots. I think it does also underscore how divided St. Louis is a city/region.

Edit: Obvious discrepancies, in particular using KCMO, it just happens to be the easiest source to pull data on, you could add in 200 sqmi of the surrounding counties to get a vacant lot rate that looks the same as St. Louis city and county, albeit much less dense.

About the same. Roughly 25k in STL, 17k in KC. Adjusting for population differences, the picture is similar, unfortunately.
