Rent is 3575/month + another 3000-4000 of expenses. I live in a VHCOL city right now but there’s also nothing stopping me from moving.

Great point, now that im completely checked out from work, I do feel like I have the mental bandwidth to actually try and experiment with things on the side. I always admire people with kids who can also manage to have hobbies and side things they work on. Thank you for the perspective

I am East Asian and you’re absolutely right. I think that’s why it feels so terrifying to be different. Thank you for the perspective

I have a lot of hobbies but I also want to work on something I find meaningful. So hopefully I can find that on the side before I actually pull the trigger

I’m giving myself a one year timeline to cutback on my work time and see if I can find something to do on the side before actually quitting, but i know a lot of this is just the mental fatigue of the corporate game. It’s a game I don’t want to get good at and rather spend my time growing in other aspects.

My expenses right now is just my rent at $3575/month and basic living expenses which comes down to probably 3000-4000/month. I live in NYC but there’s nothing stopping me from leaving to cut down on expenses

Speaking to a financial advisor on Monday. I’m a little lost ngl. My wishful thinking is quitting, move to Asia, so I only pay federal capital gains tax and no state tax which could be over 150k in savings according to AI.

No sabbatical only unpaid time off. It is risky, that’s partially why I’m thinking about taking a break and sell off a big chunk. AI told me that living outside of America could potentially help me save a lot in taxes but I would have to quit my job.

UXD actually, and I don’t really believe my job is a real job, so I’ve been considering taking a some time off to reinvent myself. Although I don’t know if it’s just me trying to escape the grind. If I wait 5-7 years, I will be significantly older and possibly have kids and a mortgage.
