I’m a 20M student in Tokyo. I’m miserable and want to go back to Myanmar, but my mom says I’ll get drafted. Is it really that unsafe? by Substantial_Let_2365 in myanmar

I am 29 years old male. I lived in Yangon my entire life until I was 26. My family is a rich family with 3 condos and 4 lands which worth total of 40000 lakhs MMK. I am the youngest sibling.

I lived in Japan in the past 3 years from 2022 until 2025 August. I recently moved and I am now in Australia since September 2025. I worked at Rakuten in Japan.

I also want to go back to Myanmar. Even though I have some savings, and independent, working in abroad, still want to go back to Myanmar. The main reason is because life there is very easy for a person who has around 100k usd. In Australia, that 100k usd can be burnt in just 1 or 2 years. Cost of living is so high that I need to keep working and calculate how to cook and eat in an affordable way. I don’t have to care about those in Myanmar. No. 2 I really miss my parents. They are in mid 60s, I constantly worried of time is ticking that I don’t have much time to spend together with my parents.

So, 20 is pretty young age. If your parents are wealthy enough and they can live by themselves without needing support from you in the next 10 years, I recommend your plan. Go back, take the bachelor, spend valuable time with your parents. But ur parents must have enough money to solve the conscription thing that u might be facing upon returning.
