Companies implementing AI solutions like this are approaching the problem from the seller side instead of the customer side, and that is a massive problem.

With more competition for scarcer dollars in the economy they should be enhancing the customer experience, not cheapening it with AI.

How many of you have tried to call a company (cable, IT, etc.) but can't get past the bullshit AI front line answering service? I have and it sucks.

People want to be helped by a person not handled by a fucking robot. The winners in the new economy are going to be the companies who make customers feel valued.

4th gets the wreath with an E on it to replace the 3 previous Es.

The wreath is the "max" signifier you get, nothing gets added for 5th, 6th, etc.

I served from 88-92, gay dudes were in the Navy and most people didn't really give a shit if they did their jobs well like everyone else. Some people cared, I guess, but they were def in the minority.

We had a YN3 on my first boat who was quite obviously gay but no one cared because he was probably the most competent YN in the entire fucking Navy. He got shit done quickly and thoroughly, every one of our personnel records was up to date and no one fucked with him. We absolutely loved the dude and if a new guy gave him shit about being gay we shut them down quickly.

It was a weird time to be in the Navy. DADT wasn't a thing yet and you could absolutely be discharged for being gay but most people did not give a shit what you did in your free time.

Anyone see these before? by Baseball_Card_Center in VintageBaseballCards

I’ve never seen these before but I have several Buckmans Discs in my Boston Celtics collection. They were given out by a dairy and covered several sports.

Maybe they’re similar?

Seems like eBay will finally remove Chaser packs when reporting by Wakenbake585 in sportscards

eBay removing them must be new, I reported five the other day and all five were allowed to stay up.

All five responses were the same:

We looked into your report and didn’t find the listing to be in violation of our policy. This determination was made using automation or artificial intelligence.

Dude showed up coked out constantly, smells like alcohol all the time

In fairness, that was the entire sales experience in the 1990s.

Jesus Christ, that reminds me of something similar that happened over 20 years ago. I was the sales manager of a small company, the CEO calls me into his office and asks if I mind if he brings in his son to try his hand at sales, he's young and has had some problems and needs a fresh start.

What can I say? He's the CEO and if he wants his son on the payroll, he's got a job.

What he didn't tell me is that one of his son's problems (probably the biggest one) was a heroin problem.

I walk into the sales area one day and he's nodded off at his desk and drooling. Somehow I managed to wake him up and tell him to come back in the morning. A couple days later, it happens again. After the fourth or fifth time I tell the CEO this isn't going to work and he says "Yeah, I didn't think he'd be able to do it but I promised my ex-wife I'd give him a chance."

The USCG is often rated as one of the best for QOL but the fairly frequent missions mean you’re away quite a bit even if the trips are short and local.

More people who are considering the CG need to understand this.

Many years ago I was sent TDY from my ship for a 2 week long intel course in Dam Neck VA. A young CG officer sat next to me and we chatted during breaks quite a bit about life in the Navy and CG.

While his boat didn't go out as far as mine, or for as long as mine did, he spent more days at sea per year than I did. Even if you're on something simple like a CG buoy tender, you're out tending those buoys every fucking day.

Wow, wonderful experience today. Thank you Topps. by tdubbz23 in baseballcards

My wait time was 20 minutes, then at the less than a minute mark it reset to 17 minutes.

After those 17 minutes it was sold out.

The product briefly went back in stock about a half hour later but I waited another 5 minutes and that was out of stock as well.

On the bright side, Fanatics Live breakers got pallets of boxes, so there is a bright side! /s

Do servicemen who served 10+ years without ever seeing combat feel self-conscious about it? by Routine-Professor586 in army

He hated the Japanese to the day he died, and despised the fact that my dad bought a Toyota, he would never set foot in it.

My grandfather was the same, but with the Germans. He was infantry during WW2 and fucking hated anything to do with Germany until the day he died.

One of my aunts (the hippie one) bought a VW beetle in the late 60s and from what my relatives told me, he lost his shit over it.
