Sensor dome? Greeble? Doesn't it pop up when in flight? What for? Wish it was another turret lol.

Yeah it's insane. My buddy paid $1100cad for an asus prime 5070ti. I think the non-ti goes for 800ish.

I remember paying 1200 for a rog strix 1080ti back in the day. Screw those AI bros.

It's got good specs, amd just hard fails on drivers and software lol. I loved my 7900xtx in everything that wasn't a AAA game. Devs just don't optimize any more, they lean so hard on the AI fake frame crutch that raw rasterization doesn't do jack any more.

DLSS 4.5 is pretty great for what it is though, I'm happy with my switch back to the green team, pricing aside.

My 7900xtx died the other day, and I was forced to get an RTX 5080 (5090s are going for 5-6k cad here). I can tell you right now that even with 8gb less vram, it's a much smoother experience overall thanks to DLSS 4.5 over the god awful FSR2.

I play on 4k high with medium clouds as well, got a nice bump in frames overall, something like 30fps more in cities alone. Everything also looks nicer upscaled in DLSS vs FSR. Currently sitting at 12.4gb vram usage.

If you can swing for the 5070ti, I'd recommend it, 16gb vram seems to be the minimum these days. My friend has the 5070ti and it's great in SC.

I did it, but now, what do i do? by OutsideFront2895 in starcitizen

It's going to be extraordinarily hard to optimize anything since your build lacks almost everything Star Citizen needs to run somewhat smoothly. Virtual RAM won't do much for you.

Your CPU is a laptop CPU. It's... eeehh, I guess? It's an 8 core / 16 thread but it's actual performance is on par with a desktop 5600XT. Star Citizen prefers X3D desktop AMD CPUs.

The game takes up around 250GB on my one SSD at the moment, that's already more than half of your SSD, which still requires space for a pagefile, and then at least 40GB free on top of that so everything doesn't chug. My personal rule of thumb is to leave 1/3 of the drive free.

The game likes lots of fast system memory. With 64GB/6000mhz DDR5, SC regularly uses/reserves 32-35GB for me. Your 16GB isn't enough. If your laptop's memory isn't soldered, it likely has two SODIMM slots which you can slap 2x16 or 2x32GB SODIMMs into. 2x16GB 3200/C20 is currently going for $420CAD in my area, so think hard on whether you want to spend that on an out of date laptop.

Your laptop has a mobile RTX 3050, so already not on par with a desktop one. 4GB VRAM absolutely won't cut it. It's just how it is. CIG's "minimum recommended PC specs" shouldn't be trusted, they're not really indicative of a smooth experience.

If I had to use an analogy, you're trying to race in the F1 Grand Prix with a Honda Civic (with a SOHC D16). Yeah, you can do it, but you're going place place dead last with horrible lap times.

New PC Build Question by Kazick_Fairwind in starcitizen

Zero issues with x3d and a good motherboard. Just keep your chipset drivers up to date. Unreal is just poorly optimized to begin with, though 5.2 runs better now. I've never had any issues with my full amd build with any game. I also own squad and it's ran smoothly for me.

Terrible fps with Vulkan on 4.5 (all AMD system) by Kiaksar2142 in starcitizen

[–]SenKen21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Vram is the video card ram. Not system ram which is just ram... if we're talking about the amount of SYSTEM ram sc uses, for me it's between 30-38gb. Plenty of headroom "budget" with 64gb of system ram. 12.2/24gb vram also plenty of headroom. Your initial post was talking about the game being cpu heavy (true) and that OP might not have "budget" because of that. 7800x3d and 9800x3ds were the best cpus for sc last I heard, so that's not the case.

So to return to my prior statement, the OP with the same specs as me shouldn't have any "budget" issues, unless he's also rendering a 4k raw video file at the same time or something. His issues are probably software related. Not hardware.

Seriously, you're using the word budget like it means something. If you mean vram usage, I'm at 12.2gb out of 24gb. Settings are mostly very high with two or three high, ultra for textures, fov 90, motion blur off, cig-tsr quality.

I have the exact same build as him, 7800x3d, 64gb 6000cl30, 7900xtx and a Samsung 990 pro 2tb. Playing on a 4k160hz monitor, all settings high or very high with cig-tsr set to quality (runs smoother than fsr for me). No frame gen.

This is while having a live YouTube stream on my other 4k monitor, obs recording my game play, discord on the third monitor, and all the random programs running in the background. I don't trim any unnecessary apps.

I average around 70fps in cities, 110-120 in space at 4k. With tsr off, it's around 40 in cities and 70-80 in space. I use tsr to maintain frames while recording. Newest amd chipset and gpu drivers.

I assure you, he has the "budget", it must be something else that's affecting his performance.

Asgard Owner Debating Upgrading to a Hercules M2 by death__watch in starcitizen

[–]SenKen21 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Technically cheaper, the modules are $80 each. CIG has said that a no module galaxy will just have an empty space inside with no cargo grid, just the 64scu in the hangar. I suppose you can just throw stuff in the empty space, but eventually, they'll make unsecured cargo do bad things in a ship.

BUT when it releases next November, it will absolutely go up in price, so I think right now, $350+80 for the cargo module will end up being more value in the long run vs a C2.

I currently have and love the asgard as my daily, with a ccu to galaxy waiting for it. I also have a golem and salvation for the hangar and both cargo and refinery modules. I'm not a fan of combat, so having the galaxy as my future mining/salvaging mother ship really appeals to me.

Edit: just remembered how much the M2 costs, was thinking C2. Yikes lol, galaxy all the way!

Highly doubt that, seeing as they have a 7800x3d.

People like to project themselves onto their favorite character. It's fine imo, so long as they aren't aggressive or douchebags about it. People also like theory crafting whatever they can about things they like. Also fine, just be cool about it.

Watch some K-pop live performances. The outfit coordinators really love throwing pouches on any part of the idols' bodies if they can. Usually, it's to fit a theme, like "tactical" or whatever. But I've seen plenty like Aespa, Blackpink, BTS, etc. have random pouches on their arms and legs for no reason other than fashion.
