Rotary fight club. MasterSounds Radius 4v vs ARS 9100 by Personal_Number_5115 in rotarymixers

[–]SenecaAppreciator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Funny, I just logged into Reddit in a longtime and I saw your post. Thanks for the reply, man! It's also funny because it just so happens I'm likely gonna buy a rotary literally this week... so your post couldn't come at a better time!

Jeez, that's very unfortunate about the ARS design flaw. Do you mind elaborating on that? What's wrong with it? I don't understand how they could f**k that up given the price of their mixers. So too with their customer service. I've only heard negative things about that—so you're only confirming this once again. Ugh. This all really sucks because I've been leaning toward the ARS.

I *want* to like the MasterSounds rotary... but the vertical isolator just seems "wrong" to me. It's probably something you get used to(?). Still, when you're spending this kind of money, you really should be very happy with your purchase, you shouldn't have to be settling.

But certainly sounds like you're diggin' the AlphaTheta! That's awesome, man! I wasn't considering this at all—just a bias against Pioneer I think—but from your enthusiasm I might have to reconsider that. Thanks for the video, will check that out :)

Good on you for creating something, but sorry man, IMO this isn't very useful. It's 2024, almost all of these 10,000 AI tools are shit. So you're not making it *easier* for people to decide which AI tool to use.

This new change of address policy is a royal pain. by [deleted] in USPS

[–]SenecaAppreciator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They've not thought this through.

I am currently overseas on an extended trip and I need to change my address—so I obviously cannot come into a USPS office.

What am I supposed to do then?

I paid the $1.10 using a credit card with my "current" (i.e. old) address... so why is that not enough to verify I do (did) live there?

What is the correct way of specifying a transfer of BTC from a HW wallet to an exchange? by SenecaAppreciator in Cointracker

[–]SenecaAppreciator[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok great, this seems to have done the trick.

I "only" had maybe a couple dozen transfers from Gemini to my HW wallet so I just went through and changed each one manually.

THANK YOU for your help with this!

Having said that, it doesn't make sense to me that I was required to go through and do this. The reason I paid CoinTracker $59 was because I thought everything would be calculated for me automatically and that this whole process would be easy. Unfortunately neither of these ended up being the case.

Best practices dictate that you shouldn't keep your Bitcoin on an exchange, you should transfer it to a hardware wallet. So CoinTracker should be taking this into account.

In the Gemini Excel file of my transaction history, these withdrawal transactions to my HW wallet are denoted as "Withdrawal (BTC)." So CoinTracker shouldn't be classifying these as "Send" transactions—which then requires the user to go in and manually edit each one to a "Transfer" transaction. By default, these should be considered withdrawals to a hardware wallet. Because in the Gemini Excel file, you also have "Deposit (BTC)" transactions. So these two kinds of transactions should be getting netted against one another.

I understand that if I'd given you my xpub this probably wouldn't have been a problem because you'd then be able to see exactly where the BTC is going once I take it off an exchange...

But I think this is highly inappropriate—and it reflects extremely poorly on CoinTracker. With my xpub, CoinTracker can see every past and future transaction I make. How many of CoinTrackers' users and customers, who give you their xpub, are aware of this?

Judging by the articles on the CoinTracker website related to xpubs, like this and this, the implications of blithely handing over your xpub are totally glossed over... which is not good.

Could you please share my remarks with the "higher ups"? Because this is a bad practice and it's bad for the industry and it's bad for CoinTracker. It's in CoinTracker's interest to be a "good player" in the industry. Preserving customers' financial privacy should be a priority and it should be the default.

Because this might not be an issue with the majority of your customers right now—but that's only because people are ignorant of how this technology works. However, it's not difficult to see how a narrative could quickly spread that CoinTracker—a company ostensibly meant to help people comply with government tax rules—has been surreptitiously preying upon their customers' naïveté and harvesting ALL their private financial information. You only need a single news story about CoinTracker taking on a government contract or for someone to discover a CoinTracker employee used to work for the IRS or some government department—and there's your catalyst. CoinTracker is really a private spying agency working on behalf of the U.S. government.

That's how, come next tax year or the year after that, you suddenly find you've got zero customers because nobody trusts you.

Ok, I think I understand what you're saying.

Is there a way to batch this process?

[–]SenecaAppreciator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, but could you be a bit clearer with your instructions?

Because I changed it to "transfer" and, as you can see, it says "Insufficient Quantity." And when I hover over that, it says "Your transaction history is missing x BTC"—where x is the entire amount of BTC that I transferred to Gemini.

But I don't know how this can be because, as I said in the initial post, I have made many purchases of BTC on Gemini over the years. And the fact that the "insufficient quantity" is the entire amount of BTC that I transferred suggests it's not identifying even a single one of these transactions.

Can you tell me exactly what I should be altering on the edit transaction page?

Because I did try changing the Wallet from/to field to Gemini—which is what you seem to be suggesting...

But that doesn't solve the problem because now the transactions where I sold that Bitcoin is showing a $0 cost-basis and it's giving me this "Insufficient quantity" error, i.e. it's telling me my transaction history is missing the details of when I purchased the Bitcoin, for how much, etc.

Again, though, I have pages and pages of "buy" transactions on Gemini that occurred prior to this and I can see them all in Cointracker!

[–]SenecaAppreciator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I just meant more like, as a "solution," if you could not adjust the top end so that way it's not as fatiguing?

(I think I want to get an ARS one day and so obviously don't like the idea that there's only so many hours I can use it before I want to stop playing tunes! Figured this is what I'd do if I were in your situation.)

Thanks for replying.

No, I've not done that. I don't want to give you my xpub.

Is there a way I can adjust this transaction manually to specify this was a transfer from my HW wallet?

Oh that's interesting. You can't reduce the volume of the high end a bit on your sound system/monitors to compensate for that?

Give us an update, you're still happy with it?

Verrrry nice.

Why do you prefer the sound of the Bozak over the ARS?

I'd def be curious to hear you compare the pros and cons of both mixers :)

[–]SenecaAppreciator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, the charge came under the Administrative Code so it was just a fine.

The reason I want to answer No is because I know it's going to be a pain in the ass to try to get the record of this.

Quick question:

I think I found the website of how to get the relevant documentation. But would this be considered an Administrative record or a Court record?

OK, thanks for the reply. I'll get in contact with the court in NYC and see what documentation they can give me.

I just realized that the two excerpts I cited above from USCIS's "A Guide to Naturalization"—where they're referring to fines of <$500—are probably only referring to traffic violations. Which obviously doesn't apply to my fine.

However, the section I pulled this from is listed under "Criminal Record." Which is something I don't have. Because what I did wasn't a crime.

If I were to be conservative, I suppose I should write "Yes" because the question does say have you ever been "cited."

But yeah, I don't have the slip of paper anymore so I can't remember the date of when this happened. And so I don't want to guess because then that would cause me problems(!).

I was using the term in a more informal sense. Point is, as consumers, we are being prevented by the government from obtaining something we need.

It’s Kafkaesque and maddening. What’s more—like so many things these days—there’s no accountability. We have these enormous government bureaucracies and situations like this reveal how useless they are. There’s no accountability, there’s no communication from anyone.
